The wide would be last on my list they seem like they would be solely for poster type projects. I loke the Sketch for a few reasons... The shape I like that they do not role off my table and how they fit in my hand, the color name and number is on the end of both caps, and finally they come in all 300 plus colors(not that I will ever by that many) I like the option. HTH!
Dick Blick carries the Copic Sketch for $4.68 each and has an on screen note whether they have it in stock or not. Apparently stores are having trouble getting their restock orders (shades of Nestibilities!)
I'm a huge Copics fan. But I had to "wait" for a hands-on opportunity last year before jumping "in".
If you will use our "search" for "Copics", there are lots of previous discussions on these wonderful markers. But for starters, here's just one of the threads you will find from that search. ;) Look Here!
I sell all of the Copic style markers & it takes forever for the Ciaos to come in stock. I ordered an original Copic set for myself & it came to me in under 30 days. I dont know if that was a fluke or what, but the Ciaos that I ordered at the end of March are shipping to me this week (so you can see how long that takes urgh!). I personally prefer the original Copics because you can easily color in the details because it has a fine nib.
It seems that Ciao markers now have replaceable nibs. Also, (I haven't tried this myself) by just placing some masking tape or similar around a marker in the airbrush system they fit too. Anyone else heard about this?
This is an older version of the chart, but the main difference is:
Copic- these have firm points on both ends, one is a fine point, the other is a broad end. Some people really like these because the fine point is easy to use. You can airbrush with them
Sketch- These have the most colors and a really amazing super brush that people love coloring with. It's very flexible and takes some practice, but most people prefer these. You can airbrush.
Ciao- THese have the same tips as the sketch, but fewer colors and you can't really airbrush.

Actually, what I have seen on YouTube (at least I think that is where I saw it!) was that some ingenious person used stampin dimensionals in the airbrush system to make up for that dead space. It worked beautifully for her!
I just found out about Copic Markers. I'm a new stamper so I always have so many questions. What colors would be the best to start out with? I can't afford to buy complete sets but I would like to try them. Any suggestions????

When I first purchased my Copic Markers, I bought one marker in each color and then wondered what the hype was. I couldn't get the shadowing and 3D look in any of my images. Then, someone here on SCS mentioned to get one or two markers in the same color group, but a number or two away.
For instance, R-59 is a good match to SU Rose Red cardstock, so I bought the R-43 which is a light tint in the same color hue, and R-46 is a hue between the two. In my opinion these 3 markers used make an excellent looking 3D red rose.
As far as what colors to start with, what are your favorite images to color?? If its floral, then maybe start with greens for the leaves and your favorite color for the flower. If you like children images, then maybe some blues for boys clothes, or pink for girls clothes. I would start with your favorite images and go from there.
