We are moving to Chandler, AZ from Indiana in about 2 weeks. We found a house we love and are getting excited, although a little apprehensive about the heat! Our 6 year old complains when it's 85 here! I was hoping to find some stampers in the area once we get settled. Anyone live in that area?
I don't live in Chandler, but I do live in Glendale, AZ. I moved out here from Long Island, NY in 1991. I love it here, although this is a pretty hot time of year to be moving! I'm sure there are a number of SCS devotees who live in Chandler, Gilbert or Mesa, all somewhat near each other. I have no doubt you'll be hearing from some of them!
I live in Mesa. Do you know the cross-streets of where you're moving? It was only about 110 today - which I must say, is not too bad...as long as you're: a) in the pool, b) indoors, or c) in the shade with a nice cool beverage. You can pm me if you have any questions. Welcome!
I live in Mesa also. Stampworks in Chandler is a great store. It's small but has a lot of stamps. The owner, Nicole, is super nice. I was just there yesterday b/c I had a little free time. Also, there's Ink It Up! which is cute. I don't go there as often but I like it too. Stampotique is up north a little and I haven't made it to Frenzy Stamper but I'd like to.
Melinda, You CAN'T leave us!!! You better not forget your ORIGINAL stampin' buddies. :( How many weeks after you move in does the virtual stamping start? LOL!! Tell Kevin to get the camera hooked up to the computer. ;)
Whew ! one time in the late 80's it was so hot there 124, the planes at sky harbor couldn't land! We ended up moving to Hemet California... Now its too hot here for us! global warming????? Slather yourself with lotion, I was really itchy for like a year. Hope you like it !
I'm jealous!! We're in San Diego right now because my DH is still active duty Marine Corps but we want to retire to the Chandler area next summer. LOL, I'm already looking at houses and my main prerequisite is that it must have a pool!
Welcome to Arizona! I live in Phoenix, and it really is true...it is a dry heat. It is hot, but over time you really do get used to it. The people here are very friendly, and the Valley of the Sun is a great place to be. :-D

I think we're going to be near Pecos Rd & Alma School Rd...does that make sense? I don't really have a good sense of locations yet!
You are actually only about 5 miles from me! We live in Chandler, but a bit south from you. The first year in the heat is definately the worst. I always say we are the opposite of the rest of the country--they all go outside in the summer, and we only go outside in the winter! Is your 6 yo a boy or girl? I have a 6 yo girl if you want to get together for a play date! Where are your kid(s) going to school?
Melinda - sending you a hot welcome from Chandler! I live in Chandler and will not be too far from you as I am about Pecos and Mcqueen which is just two streets east of Alma School. This is a great community but very hot right now. We were lucky we moved here during the winter and had time to ease into it but this weather will make the winter seem all that much worth it. It's so cool to see in this post how close many of us are. I hope you have a smooth move and feel free to pm me if you have any questions about the area!! Good Luck!
