With great sorrow, I share the sad news that Carlene Prichard (Chatterbox-1) died. Surrounded by her family, she passed just after midnight January 1, 2023.
I am grateful for and blessed by our friendship which began on this site. After commenting on one of her cards, we discovered we lived a mile from each other. A meet-up for coffee blossomed into a wonderful friendship full of joy and laughter and an inclusion into a group of wonderful friends. She loved creating cards and seeing the cards others had created. She was generous with her praise both online and in person. Cards sent during her illness were displayed so she could see them.
We will miss her wonderful smile, quirky sense of humor, generosity and love.
Carla, I’m shocked to hear of dear Carlene’s passing. I didn’t realise that she was so ill. She was always so positive and grateful for comments on her cards and will always be remembered as the challenge Queen. So sorry for your loss. Thinking of her family and friends. Hugs.

Carlene's health and diagnosis spiraled down shockingly fast. She began having numbness in her hands and feet in mid October, The numbness spread up her body. An MRI in early November found a spinal tumor and her surgery was November 10th. Prognosis was initially one to three years. By the third week of December it was changed to less than a month. She was moved home on the 22nd with Hospice support and died just after midnight on January 1st. Although her body was failing, she was alert. We saw her on the 28th and she asked about families, reminisced about good times and joked. So grateful we got to say goodbye. I wish you all could have know her in person. She was so full of love and joy.
Carla, My sincerest condolences on the loss of your dear friend. I did not know Carlene but after reading through your posts here I visited her card gallery and I can see what an amazing woman you were blessed to know. I hope your memories of her bring you comfort.
Thanks Carla for alerting us to Carlene's passing. So shocking to us- we knew she was taking a break but no clue she had these issues going on! She was a member of the Alpha challenge, and will be so missed!!!
Thank you for letting us know.
I did not know her either but I am always sad to lose a creative and a fellow SCSer...thank you for the link to her gallery. So many beautiful cards and she was really was the Queen of challenges! Holy cow! I have never seen anything like it!
She sounds just as amazing -a warm, inclusive person. Someone I would have liked.
