Here's my card for this week's challenge. This is SOOOO completely NOT my style but since I've been on SCS I'm getting more comfortable trying new ideas and expanding my horizons
I hadn't really any idea what to do for this challenge so, while waiting in the car line to pick up DS from school, I started browsing for "small circle-y things" in my stamp collection in my stamp notebook and came across the smilie face. What could I use with a smilie face? Tie dye of course! Oh, yea! I could try that crayon resist technique!
As soon as I got home I HAD to get this done. I got out my stampin stuff, confiscated one of my kids white crayons, and had a ball making this!
Like I said - not my style, but it was great fun watching the resist! Maybe later I'll do something a little more "ME".
What a way for me to get on this weekly bandwagon! Whew! This is the first I've actually completed in the current week. What can I say? I'm into pears and shabby chic lately. So, combine that with this (challenging) challenge, and this is what you get:
Tonight was my first chance to play. I could hardly wait because I wouldn't let myself look at anyone else's cards until I had made at least 2 of my own. So I was really excited to upload mine and to look at all of yours too! Awesome cards ladies! I agree this challenge was tougher than the others I've done, but fun to stretch!
I have been debating on whether or not to get a circle punch and this challenge has helped me make up my mind to just do it. But I gave up Michael's for lent so I will have to wait a few more weeks before the purchase!
What fun this weeks has been! I look for reasons to use my CM double punches and I was glad to have that reason this week! I had an order for some Easter cards from my neighbor, so yesterday I made some more of the one I posted and she really liked them. Please take a look at mine.
Thanks!
This week is the first time I've attempted the challenge. I've been having LOTS of fun with it. Here are my four attempts. I didn't realize at first I should post links here. Thanks for looking, Julia
Well, I've been toying with the idea now for 11 weeks that these would be GREAT for 6x6 scrap pages.... except I don't normally work in 6x6. I generally do larger, year long albums of all my family pictures. But, then I hit upon the idea that my sister Amanda wouldn't bother to scrapbook my sister Candie's wedding since she isn't very enthusiastic about doing her own wedding.
Anyway, I had a nice leather stampin up 6x6 album lying around, so I decided to put it together as a gift for my sister Amanda. So here is my first layout. I hope to quickly catch up with the other 10 sketches so that I can work along with you all.
Boy, these 6x6 layouts are like chips, quick and leave you wanting to do more...
Can someone please explain "Sketch Challenge" to me? Hate to be so dumb, but I keep seeing this pop up and don't have a clue! Thanks. Kay-Kay
AndreaSophia decided to get out some of her favorite layouts of cards she has seen here on SCS and challenge others to make one using the same layout. We all post to the same thread and link our card. Every wednesday she gives us a new one via a new thread.
Here are some links to help get you started:
Okay, here's mine for the week. This one was was very challenging for me (guess that's the idea, right)! I do not do circles well at all! I have a very linear mindset or something. Guess that's why I'm such a square! Ha! :P Okay, enough of the lame jokes...here it is...sorry, no SU stamps on this one. :( My collection of SU isn't that big yet, and I didn't have any that just felt right for this particular card.
This should work! I can't seem to get into my own gallery, so I went to Wonderful Wings and so here is my card.
Hope this works!
I have posted this card twice now, because it kept getting placed into Stipple Butterfly rather than Wonderful Wings, so I lost a few comments... but here it is anyway.
I tried the Drunken Chalk technique a few weeks ago but hadn't done anything with the background paper yet, so I tried it with the sketch challenge this week.
