Sketch Challenge Bonus fun!!! This time the bonus fun will be a little different, its all about posting comments to all of the great work these challenges inspire. You must do two things to win: post lots of comments and either link your card here OR if you don't have the capability to scan but did participate at home let us know by saying you did the challenge and you posted comments. Next week I will pick one of the cards done for this sketch and linked here. I will check out the comments section for that card and I will pick a number. The person who posted that comment AND either posted a card or said they participated at home will win a surprise from me! Clear as mud, right
This week's sketch is a little different but please don't fret! The inspiration card was done by Andee CAte.
You guessed it, we are making pocket cards! I loved Andee's card so much I wanted to use it right away for a challenge - it is stinkin adorable! The pocket cards are much simpler than they look and the directions and template are posted below.
Pocket card directions:
Cut a 8.5x11 piece of cardstock in half just like you would if you were making a plain card. Score down the center just like a regular card. On the center score line cut down from the top with your scissors about 1.75 inches. Close the card. Score across the card right where the end of your cut is. Fold to the front of the card so there is a little flap on the front. Glue down the open side and accross the bottom of the card to form a pocket. Create tag and pop inside! You can make the card a little smaller if you wish by trimming the side and top of your cardstock before you glue it together. Feel free to round the corners like Andee did or leave them square. If you have any questions please ask!
The template below is the INSIDE of the card. The dotted lines are the scored lines.
To print this layout: - (nc means no color) If you see a small layout click on it or if you see an icon click on the words next to it.
-When the black surround screen appears click only on the layout and a white screen with the layout should appear.
-Right click and click on print from the pop up box or hold down your shift key and P key at the same time.
-Now you're ready to choose print and it should print to actual size of the card depending on your computer.
Sounds like a great challenge, I'm going to start mine straight away and I can't wait to comment on everyone else's pocket cards too!
Thanks for the great challenge!

Thanks Andrea! I am so honored to be the "inspiration" this week!! I hope I can participate before I leave for vacation tomorrow!
Also, another way to make the pocket is to take the 8.5 x 11 paper and cut in it half longways so that you have a piece that is 4.25 x 11. Then fold that in half so you have a 4.25 x 5.5 card with the fold at the bottom. Then fold down some (1-1.5 inches) of the front to make your flap for the pocket. No extra cutting involved that way.

I always have trouble with pocket cards...but this one I am determined to get right. My best stampin buddy that recently moved to Georgia and I have had an ongoing joke about pocket cards, so once I get this finished, I will be able to show her when I go visit her next month!! She'll love it!

Andrea, I am so excite! I just did my 1st pocket card at Leslie's Hostess Club Party monday night. I will make my own for your challenge. As always, I have to wait until the weekend. Thanks for your great challenges. Nancy

Can't wait to go get started on this one! I should have about an hour and a half until my DS wakes up from his nap. I was planning on taking a shower, but...
I have another one in the works, just not put together yet. I think these are fun to do and make neat cards. Thanks for using it for a sketch challenge. I also use a piece of cardstock cut in half the long way and then fold in half and then fold down the flap to make the pocket. It works very easy that way for me and I can get it all straight.

Here is mine. I've been wanting to do a pocket card for a long time!!! I love how this card turned out!!!! Combined it with the Color Challenge this week!! I could have combined it with the WTC from last friday, but with having 4 kids here, it took me more than 20 minutes!! :(
Edit to add, it's finally up!!!! Whoo hoo

Here's mine, just in time. I need to make dinner and then I'm off to the recital. This pocket card honors my friend's daughter who is in 8 numbers, tonight. She's had a tummy ache all day, so hopefully, she will do OK and have fun.
I just love pocket cards! Unfortunately I have packed all of my stamping supplies as our moving date is fast approaching, but I have a couplen in my gallery:
I'm new to all this so I hope I'm doing this right. If not this card is the only one in my gallery so if you click my name I think you can see it. When it is approved. How long does it take for approval anyway? :???:
I've been looking at the challanges for a couple of weeks and saw the pocket card today and had planned on making one anyway sooooo...here ya go.
