I hope this isnt toooo early  I just wanted to make sure it was done on time so no one got into a dither about it not being there or got annoyed with me ;)
So this week's sketch challenge starts a little something different. From now on, the last week of every month the sketch challenge sketch will be a different shape - sketches of horizontal legal sized cards, vertical legal sized cards, square cards and any other great shaped card I can find to use
I've never done a square card but I've always wanted to so this will be great inspiration for me also! This is a simple but lovely square card done by Jules. I wish she would post more again - I love her work :( Anywho - I think this sketch is very simple and elegant and the small block at the bottom would be perfect for a sentiment but also I think would be smashing with just a small detail design.
Doh! I forgot to add directions for an easy square card Make a standard fold notecard - 5.5"X4.25"
Cut 1.25" off of the long side
Now you have a card that is 4.25"x4.25" and it fits in a regular sized notecard envie so you dont have to worry about extra postage
Feel free to make the card any size you'd like though, i just thought I would give the super easy directions =)
To print this layout: - (nc means no color) If you see a small layout click on it or if you see an icon click on the words next to it.
-When the black surround screen appears click only on the layout and a white screen with the layout should appear.
-Right click and click on print from the pop up box or hold down your shift key and P key at the same time.
-Now you're ready to choose print and it should print to actual size of the card depending on your computer.
Wow! I don't think I've ever seen anything by Jules before so I just had a quick glance around her gallery - she's got some wonderful things there. There's a Roses in Winter card that is absolutely gorgeous - and not near enough comments to tell her how pretty it is. Thanks, Andrea. I'll get to this challenge early tomorrow morning.

ya, i love her work. She makes everything look sooooo soft and like its behind vellum. Beautiful!
I am still working on thank-yous. This one is for dh to give to his coworkers. It needed to be masculine. Looks better in person because the tree is embossed in copper and that gets lost in the scan...oh well...typical. First square card I ever made....kind of fun to do something different! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for posting early. I've had company for over a week and not been able to stamp :( . I'm making up for lost time and will get started on this before I go to bed.
I have always been curious about the challenges but have never done one until now. My first attempt I am really not happy with but I tried. I LOVED the challenge though and will try again. I will probably become a Challenge Junkie!! Thank You.

Your card is lovely. Keep em' comin'. If you become a challenge junkie you will be joining a very large group of junkies. We all look forward to each new challenge like crazy people.
A couple weeks ago I bought a star template from Creative Memories and thought that would make a unique card. I can't wait to see all the different shapes you come up with, Andrea.
This is my first ever square card. Thanks, Andrea, for the reminder that by making it 4-1/4", it could still be mailed in a A2 envelope. Here's my square card.
This is a really nice change. I have not made a square card before. I am suffering a little though over my addiction to Christmas cards as I love making them the most but am making strides to move on. Sad...isn't it???!!!
I didn't look at anyone elses before doing this because I didn't want to be swayed. I wanted to complete the challenge all on my own. Now I'm going to go through and see what everyone else came up with.

Oh, Kittie,
Did you join the 2006 Christmas card challenge? Then you can keep on making them -- like 10 per month!
Here's mine! It's my first square card and my first sketch challenge! What fun! I forgot to put that it is 5.5" x 5.5" (even though I don't have that size envelope!) Oh well!

I think I may join it. I enjoy Christmas cards so much and sold more than 70 at my work to raise money for our Adopt-A-Family. I could really get a great start on that project for Chrismtas 06.
I have never done a square card. I love your 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 square so you do not need a special envelope. Thanks again Andrea for your awesome sketches. I plan to play soon. Nancy
My first challenge ever.... My friend and I attended a workshop where we made this card. It is a 6x6 card and it came with an envelope (which the back flap is also stamped and colored in). Hop0e you enjoy!
Oh How Fun!!!
THis is the first time for me, also!
Thank God for vacations!
THank Flylady.com for helping me to get my home together so I have time for fun!
