There is no 'deadline' to completing your Christmas cards for June!
I thought it would take me awhile to come up with a challenge for you, but it only took a few minutes. I like making quilt cards but haven't made one in a very long time. So my challenge to you is to make qult cards. There are a lot of beautiful examples in the gallery here: quilt cards - Homemade Cards, Rubber Stamp Art, & Paper Crafts - Splitcoaststampers.com
One suggestion I have for making these is to use a good, strong liquid glue so you can move the pieces around eaisier. The first time I made quilt cards, I used the red sticky tape. Sometimes I would think the pieces were on straight only to find they weren't. I use Zip Dry because, not only can I move the pieces around, it dries clear and if any glue oozes out, you can rub it off like you cna with rubber cement. Once it's dry, it stays in place. Can't wait to see your beautiful creations.
Finally, I got my sample card done for you. Hope you enjoy making these cards as much as I do.
LOL!!! Oh Debbie...I clicked on the link for the quilted cards gallery and that crazy one I sent to Pattycakes with the chicken soup came up....somehow, I'm not thinkin that's what you meant....LOL!!!!!...
Sheri, when I click on the link, it brings up the gallery of quilted cards. It's kind of wierd that only one card came up for you. Maybe try searching for quilt cards in the gallery. That's how I came up with this link.
Peggie Sue, I'm looking forward to seeing your cards. Quilt cards are easy and fun to make. Once you get your quilt pieces together, run it through an embossing folder for an added touch.
I don't always get my squares even. That's why using a liquid glue as opposed to sticky tape would work better for me. Then I can move the squares around to get even with the grid paper.
Thanks for all you do for us to keep us on track! I really appreciate this challenge but must do it by summer - so that it is relaxing BEFORE the summer work comes.
Hi Debbie,
Quilting is something I'd never tried and judging from my card should not continue but I will anyway. Thanks for the challenge and here is my first. From a distance it looks okay. Quilt Card for Christmas.
This quilted card challenge defeated me. Nothing I tried worked out right or looked like anything I would want to give anyone. The cards I did for this month are simple cards and I'll keep working on the quilted ones because I know I can do it...I just have to figure out what the trick is.
I got 1 of my 2 cards done for this months challenge. I was so excited when I say this challenge, a little nervous too cause I am NO quilter lol. I did do a quilt card last year so I just stuck to what I knew. When I saw the sketch challenge this week, it was perfect. I combined the 2 challenges and whala.... my card
Angie,
Tried doing the same layout with a larger pattern but did not like it. The smaller patter DP looked better on the card. A tweezers is a must for easy placement!
Can't wait to see some of the other cards for this month's challenge.
I'm loving all the quilt designs I'm seeing. I haven't had a chance to make many cards the last few months. I'm going on vacation next weekend so have to spend the week cleaning my house, doing the laundry, and packing. Oh, yeah, I have to work, too.
