I would say to stay with SU colors and allow for people to substitue. If there is the occational color that was needed and SU didn't have that would be fine.
I think including Papertrey would be cool since they also have matching ink, just like SU. People can sub, just like they do now. I love the color challenge!

I voted to use whatever brand you wish. That being said, mabye if you deicded to say use a papertrey color you could give a comparison SU color, just like you do already for some SU colors.
I don't have all the SU colors, and when I started out doing these challenges I had none. I went to ebay and bought a SU swatch ring, so that I would always be able to match my CTMH, Bazzill, and generic brand cardstock colors for the challenges.
I suggest alternating... use SU! colors one time and other company's the next. Those of us who use mostly SU! colors can always substitute with a close matching color. JMO... Happy Stampin!
I only know SU colors !!!! I have used their papers and would not even know the other colors out there. Hope we stay with SU colors.
thanks for asking our opinion.
I voted for the SU! colors. There's a lot of options out there. If someone doesn't have an SU! color, they can find something close. I've had to do that in the past, and it worked out just fine. I've noticed that, when you call out any of the 'In Colors', you always give an optional color because many people just don't stock up on those particular colors. I think that's just fine! If it's not broken, don't fix it. What you've been doing has been a great job, and you really don't need to change a thing!

I vote to stay with SU colours for the colour challenge and people who have other paper can match as close as possible. Would it be overwhelming to give suggestions of the other company colours when posting the challenge. (I appreciate the work all the challenge makers put in each week and wouldn't want to add more!!!)
I haven't read everyones comment...but I did read one that said people with paper from other companies can use it on the other challenge days....that was a good point.
Ok so I am guessing its going to be SU then! To help all of us out that have not had the oppurtunity to get SU products either due to finance or in foreign members SU! not being available is it possible to give a brief description of the colour as I am afraid I have no idea what the SU! colours are.
I like using the SU! colors bc. then I have a color guide and I use the SU! color to aid me in cs substitutions. But I have never felt obligated to stick with SU!'s cs---I freely switch out as long as it matches the colors you listed Emily!

Thank you for asking and listening.
You can usually get a pretty good idea of the colors just by looking at the 2 samples posted or another member suggested earlier that this website would be helpful too http://www.scraptitude.com/colorcombo/
I think it's pretty hard to describe a color in words, but hopefully those visuals will help you be able to play.
dude - no way I am listing bazzill colors! There are WAAAAY too many, lol!
ROFLMBO!!! Maybe I'll have to take on the challenge of matching up the Bazzills to SU some day. I'm actually ashamed to admit the level of Bazzill I have, it definitely exceeds all reason. LOL
You are so right about the array of color choices in Bazzill and a lot of them have no SU to coordinate with. I think it would be too hard to move beyond SUs 4 color families and try to incorporate even smaller companies like Paper Trey. So I voted for SU only; I believe it would be easier on you and most of us to have a standard palette and then those of us that want a bit more can coordinate our other papers with the SU colors.
I already sub my Bazzills when I want textured paper and still list it as the SU color. I personally find it hard to tell the difference once its loaded to the gallery. *probably because my photo skills suck and I never get the lighting right*
SU! ONLY. Everyone knows what color Mellow Moss is. There is no rule that says you have to use ONLY SU!'s Mellow Moss. You can use any paper if it matches the tone of the color challenge. I think you will loose alot of people if you start referring to other companys names for the card stock. I rarely post my cards, but I still participate and you will definatley loose me.
Hey everyone, great question. I have no available su papers, but given the reality that this is an original SU stampers' site, I would have to say I would vote to stay with SU colors: Not having the su colors has not prohibited me in any way from doing the challenges! I just substitute suggested colors with what I have in stock! No big deal as long as we can all participate!!!

I think that most of us at least have a variety of the SU colors. There are such a wide selection of outside colors, I think it might be harder for people to participate. Especially those who don't do a lot of outside paper shopping or don't accumulate stockpiles of other paper.
If you tried to offer the closest SU match as well, that would help somewhat.
Personally, though, I would choose not to participate in the challenge rather than run out and try to find some other paper I didn't have.
I'm desperately trying to get through the color challenges and just bought a package of Rich Regals & Neutrals. My only wish is that substitutions be available on the master list. I have a lot of Creative Memories paper, some of it matches, some of it doesn't. The colors on my printouts of the list aren't always good representations of the actual colors. There's 2 or 3 (black, white, red) that I can fake. Thanks for letting me express my opinion.
I agree with most of the posts here and say stick to Stampin UP! If you don't have SU colors I think most people can get their hands on at least a mini catalog to match up cardstock with colors that they already have. I have all SU colors and still do that sometimes to use up what I have a lot of.

Thanks for the link it will be a great help.
and no I don't know what Mellow Moss is...sorry but I don't but I am sure with the link I can grasp it.
I voted for SU..........seems like most people feel comfortable substituting similar colors if thats what they have. My feeling is...........if it ain't broke...........why fix it????? LOL
I voted any company. I think I may have misread it.
I say use the SU! colors as a guide (just because most people know those colors), then use what you have that is close to that color with whatever company's paper you like.
What She Said!!
I voted SU only, because this is an SU site (mostly). There are similar colors in other brands... if one wants to substitute an SU color with another similar, it's okay! It's just color combo!
I voted for SU only, but what would be nice is to have alternate colors from different companies beside the SU colors, IYKWIM. Kinda like when you post an alternate SU color in case someone doesn't have the original, i.e. wasabi (celery)
I am voting SU only, for lots of reasons. 1 - I am a demo and I dont have any other papers, but that's my problem, lol. 2 - the original intent of SCS was for SU!, and while it has branched out and welcomed all others, it still uses SU! as it's foundation, that has not changed. 3 - never have the colors in the challenge been carved in stone. Substitutions have always been welcomed, and people can always put the brand/color in their upload so everyone can see the other papers/colors out there. I have substituted colors within SU when I didn't have THE color available, and when reviewing the gallery, I see I have never been alone in that. If someone wants to take the time to compare and list the SU! colors and what their other brand matches are, then I think that is great and could be part of the master, but the challenge itself should remain SU!
<Climbing off soapbox now>
Thank you to everyone in this thread for being as kind and supportive of everyone's opinion as I have come to expect from this group. This overall kindness and respect is why I have NEVER felt uncomfortable posting my opinion out of fear of verbal reprisals.

I think the SU! colors are fine (but I am probably among the few who does NOT have other company's CS)...but whatever you decide, I will still play along, provided substitutions are listed (in SU! colors). This site rocks and I LOVE the challenges!

I've only been stamping for 2 yrs and I vote for SU. I don't have other companies, other than Joann & Mikes to choose from, and I don't like most of their paper. I'm not a demo, but I think the SU colors are the bomb and they are easy to match if necessary.

I vote for SU, I just bought packs of the mixed colors just for this! I have participated in the past and substituted cardstock from packs of the "cardstock by the pound" packages that were really close! I've looked at the gallery sometimes and noticed other atmapers colors were off slightly due to scanner/photography differences anyways. At least this way, some of us can cheat with a SU color coach- hee hee, if we run out of a certain color.
