Here's two things I came up with for storing things...
The first is CUTLERY TRAYS (think silverware) from Target. They were $5.99 and $3.99 and they work awesome! They are wire mesh, so I just put a nail through each corner to hang them.
The second is a plastic bin from the $1 store (I think they were 2/$1 actually). I ran dowels through them with my ribbon (it holds the dowel far enough from the wall that the ribbon can roll easily...). They are "holey" on the sides to run the dowel through. I need a couple more for my wheels as you can see
A while back there was a thread about ribbon storage where you put your ribbon in the Cropper Hopper little plastic mini boxes - Well I did that with my buttons and ribbons and some other embleshments BUT the Cropper Hopper Embellishment box was $12 or so and I just could not bring myself to do that so I went to the fish and tackle section at walmart and found a box less than $3 that the mini boxes fit perfectly in! I love it as it has a great handle and plenty of room!
I also have used the dowel and put them through the holes of my cubes in front of things that I did not use much or did not need to get to that often!

Thanks for the pictures I have been playing with wheel storage ideas and I like the wheels on the dowel. I will probably put them in something similar to the ribbon holder you use.
I just got back from Wal Mart and bought a basket and dowels for the ribbon. I can't wait to put it up. My basket was $2 and the dowels $1 for 2 of them. The basket is nice and big though, and I won't need more than the one.

My stamp corner has big windows and NO wall space, so everything has to fit under my tables. I use clear tennis ball cans (it seems like I got this idea from mamakimberly, too!) with the labels off to store my wheels, then tuck the containers into a basket. I label the top of the can with what is in the can, but it is easy to just pick one up and look!
I bought several clear plastic hot wheel type of storage cases at Walmart for under $5. Each case holds 48 hotwheels or ink refill bottles! I can put two whole color families on one side, then flip the case and put two color families on the other side. I have another case that has all my ink cartridges in it, it holds even more cartridges, two to a slot! The jumbo cartridges also fit into the slots!
What do you hate about ribbon storage? Well, I HATE when I really want to take the bolt to the desk and work with it. What do you have to do when it is on a dowel? Take off all the others in the way. I wanted a storage that I could just lift the bolt off and go with it.
I purchased these big hooks from Home Depot. About $.79 each. I tried the dowel method with them and when that totally frustrated me, I put on my thinking cap. What could I use to create a hammock for the ribbon. I had a roll of old wallpaper that I had saved and didn't want anymore so I used the wallpaper to create a sling. I just stapled it to the wall, wrapped it around the dowel and taped it to itself. Below is a picture. Sorry that it isn't a front on picture but my room is very narrow and I just couldn't get far enough away.
Hope you enjoy.

Ann, cool idea! I currently have my ribbon in a over the door shoe holder with clear pockets which I got at BigLots for I think $3.99, Target also sells them for not too much more....not the best place for ribbon and I really want to use that for my punches.
Here are a couple of pictures of the pegboard above my work table. The clear thing with the water brushes (aka aquapainters), etc. is a literature holder from an office supply store. The long white bins and the one with the punches on the sides are shower caddys from Big Lots.
oops my pictures are too large to attach here. I'll try submitting them to the gallery and see if I can add the link later.

If you look at my gallery, I have a few cool ideas, Most of my stamping room was Free! or I spent less than $20.00 on it. Garage sales are my main source, and family member throwing thing out. That are still in good condition. Like my computer desks, These were free!.;)
these are some great ideas. thanks for sharing. here's my tip.
I like to use used peanutbutter jars for anything skinny that needs to stand on an end (watercolor brushes, pencils, etc.) jsut wash 'em out, and you can decorate them cute too.
Anyone got any cheap ideas for storing ink pads? Right now, I have them piled into a couple drawers of an Iris cart, but I don't really like it. I also don't want to spend 60 bucks on the SU organizer for them :( Any cheap ideas?
Am soooooooo loving the cutlery tray idea!!!!!! Lots of nice sized cubbys for things! Hmmmmmmmmmm?
Stamps&cars - Whew hoo girl, you have lots of ribbon!
Rhiamon - try an old cassette holder. Either soft case or wooden. You can usually pick them up a garage sales cheap cheap! But, just a word of advice, when you go looking - take an ink pad with you to test!
Stamp Pad Storage ideas ~ I found these great racks at walmart a little over a year ago - they remind me of little bakers racks - all metal but they are about 18 inches tall and 5 inches wide. I stack them 5 or 6 high on each little shelf. I only have 2 of them and have not found anymore since....They were made by Rubbermaid - Anything with little shelves would work the same...( I think they were $4 each)
My friend keeps hers in one of those flip top boxes (plastic shoe boxes) - I think that would be ok as long as they were seperated by color group that would be ok...

I love the cutlery tray. I think I'll have to have a couple of those tomorrow!
My favorite organizer is my Pampered Chef rotating utensil holder, it is great for all the things you want to stand up-aquapainter, scissors, handheld punches etc. Thanks for the great ideas. Keep them coming!
I'm working on getting a pegboard system set up. One thing I remember seeing is a hook that sticks out straight from the board (in various lengths) and then bends at a right angle about an inch or so from the end.
I thought that would work great for wheels if it were long enough so the rubber didn't scrape the pegboard, you could just grab the one you want without having to take them off the dowel. Murphy's Law, it would be in the middle or at the end that doesn't come off, LOL.
My only cheap idea was the under drawers from when we got rid of the waterbed. I have three of the on top of a coffee table so they aren't on the floor. Then my husband cut plywood to make a top and all of my iris carts are stacked on that. Not exactly cheap if you didn't already have them or could find them at a garage sale.
Oh, I just remembered. I also checked with colleges in our area and found one selling older or extra tables and got a desk for $5. It's 2 1/2 foot square, made for computers but it's deep enough to put all the stuff you need for the project on it and room to work as well. Works great. That would be a hit or miss but most will have sales at least once a year or so.
Wow what great ideas! I am LOVING them! I use the clear over-the-door shoe holder too, only it holds all of my scraps! I love seeing the all the colors when i walk into my room, and I find that I use them way more when I can actually see them. Since I'm also a scrapper, this is REALLY benificial! Its not very efficient, but hey, i'm not using that door for anything else! best $4.99 i ever spent!
Hmm!! My son has 2 of these!! I can see 1 coming up missing!! LOL!! Just kidding I'm not that cheap!! I'll go buy 2!! Thanks for the great idea!! Mine are sitting on a shelf taking up valuable stamp space!! More room for stamps!! Hmm!! Excuse to buy more stamps!! LOL!!

GREAT ideas! My stamping space is in our loft, so I have NO wall space, either. I get very jealous when I see all the nifty pegboards (and cutlery trays!) on the walls.
Great Idea! Thanks for sharing Mamak. You are so creative!

I found a cheap alternative to the SU ink caddy. I went to IKEA and got a CD carrying case. I bought black and they also sell an off white or grey (not sure exactly what color it is), and I think they have red. I paid $2.99 for it and it holds 23 SU pads. I leave it sitting upright so the pads are all correct for storage. I do turn it on it's side when I go to crops when I transport it, but other than that, it stays upright.
I also got a DVD hanging case that screws into the wall. I take one of the holders off of the metal holder if I want to take a few colors and not the whole 23. That one was $12.99
I'll try this again. I just deleted my post by accident.

It's extremely sturdy and I love that it is wall-mounted.
As for ribbon storage, I have plastic gutter mounted to my wall. I was way cheap, and I didn't like the dowel method because if I wanted something from the middle, I had to unassemble the whole thing to get to it.
As for all of those little things, like buttons and eyelets and the like, I bought a couple of those sorting centers from the hardware store. They have a ton of little drawers, and the unit is also wall-mounted. I love when I can use my wall space because I don't have a ton of tablespace.

Shannon,
Do you happen to have a picture of the carrier one? Do you know if it can be ordered through their website?
