I got a couple of those rubber covered metal shelves at Lowe's that are designed for inside doors to hold cans of food. They were pretty cheap, and they hold the SU stamp sets in plastic boxes really well. I stack them about 2 or 3 deep, but try to overlap a bit so I can see what's behind. I put similar sets together. They do take up precious wall space, but they seem to hold a lot. I also have a very old plastic caddy with a handle that was made either for tools or for carrying cutlery out to the patio--I'm not sure which. It sure works well for brushes, pens, etc. and for my favorite all-purpose tools which are discarded manicure supplies like emery boards and orange sticks.
Thanks for all the storage ideas, ladies! Unfortunately, I don't have a room for my scrapping/stamping. All I have is a bedroom closet so everything has to be pretty portable. I hang my ribbon on a skirt/slacks hanger and when I'm creating at the kitchen table, I hang it on the back of a chair and can unroll what I want without having to take it off the hanger. I'll try to figure out how to upload a pic for you.
ok, here is my ribbon (and other stuff) organizer inspired by the great kimberly. I used her idea and combined it with the other poster who made the comment about liking to take the spool of ribbon to her desk for easier use. So instead of putting the dowel through the ribbon, I set the ribbon on top of the dowel. Thanks for the great ideas everyone. Now I can't wait until next month until I can the get the DVD holders from IKEA for my ink pads, at $5 a piece, you can't go wrong. I hope this picture attaches ok.

I think I'm losing it...I know I had this written before.
I got a CD carrying case that holds 23 SU ink pads from IKEA. It was $2.99. They come in black, red, and a grey or off white color. This one sits upright so all the inks are the way they should be unless I am traveling with them. Then, I turn the holder on its long side (ink pads are then standing up), but it's only while I travel). I also purchased a DVD holder that mounts on the wall with screws and a metal holder. That one I use for crops if I don't want to take the big container.
Love the ink pad organizer on EBAY! yippee! i gave the photo to my DH and told him to make one just like that.. (luckily he is very crafty with building things!)
Great Ideas!

Most of my storage was free also. I got the boxes that Energizer batteries are displayed in. The boxes are sturdy & just the right size. I got several larger one, a few dowels & punched holes in the sides & put ribbon & wheels in them. You can't beat free!!

I think I might have found something for those of you looking for storage for cards (4 1/4 x 5 1/2 size). I found these little boxes at Walmart for 97 cents. I bought them for ribbon spools, but I bet they would work great for cards. Didn't notice at the time that the label says for storing 4 x 6 photos.
I hosted a ribbon swap, and now I have 1 yrd of all the SU ribbon. Well, since its all cut, I have no spools, so a friend of mine showed me what she did.....she went to W mart and bought plastic floss holders (embrodery) and just wrap your ribbon onto those, then store them in a small plastic container the was purchased at Craft Warehouse.
Nice thing is now, when we stamp at someone elses house you can take all your ribbon, cause its stored together in a small craft box.
Also, since my craft room/computer room is the dinning room, I have limited wall space since its out in the open. I bought a tv stand and matching dresser at W mart (both under 40.00) and the tv stand hold all my punches and magazines in the cubbard area, a basket full of misc and a box full of extra ribbon in the center area, and my dvd/satalite receiver on top, and the dresser holds ...........
drawer 1 - dvds
drawer 2 - eyelets, setters, embossing powder, things like that
drawer 3 - tool.... cutter, inkworks, wheel guide, trays things like that
drawer 4 - stamp sets that I use alot, the seasonals are in a different area
I was in a ribbon club. I got 5 yards of each ribbon. I kept them all shoved in a large ziplock bag for a very long time. Then a few months ago I had a lightbulb moment. I wrapped them around paper towel tubes. I started with a small piece of double stick tape for each color, then ended each piece with tape again to hold them in place. I got 8 colors on each tube.
For ink pad storage, I've seen this recommended on another area of this site. Although I haven't acquired one for myself yet (issues with shipping to US address but living in Canada - near the border) I understand that it will hold 48 ink pads.I believe that it is still on sale.
I went to Good Will today iso a shelf or cassette case to put my SU pads in. And lo and behold, there was a large wooden shelf w/ dowel dividers, and i tried an ink pad from my purse in it [a tip i learned last night on here], and it was absolutely PERFECT!!!!!!!! What the best part was it was only $3.00!!! It will hold lots and lots of pads :-) !!!! I couldn't have gotten a better fit if i would have had one custom made!!!
WOO HOO!!!!!!!!

I use the slacks hanger for wheels too. Works great and one holds all the wheels I own.
I use photo boxes to hold my ribbon. One box holds two rows of ribbon rolls.

Here's my really cheap craft storage: when I'm finished with the jumbo Qtip boxes (like you get at Sam's), I take all the paper/cardboard off and they are the perfect size for ribbon storage. They're so shallow that I can put them on top of other things, like my three-drawer Sterlite containers that I have on bookshelves.
I have my stamping area on a long table in my living room with a large metal enclosed self above it. So, I don't have a lot of wall storage. I have found that cheap baskets that I find at thrift stores are great for storing things. I have one basket for pearl X bottles and EP and another for my acrylic paint.
I had a ton of gel pens that weren't working well. I stored them tip down in a glass jar and they are NOW WORKING!
BTW, I just got my JoAnn flyer today, and all their plastic storage containers will be on sale 50 percent off on May 7.
I plan to get more of the embroidery floss containers to keep my embellishments in. I want to get one for each color group (blue, red, yellow, orange, green, purple, neutrals, metallics) and then sort my embellishments this way. That way, when I go to the store to buy embellishments, I will know which color group I have the least of. That way I won't always end up with purple and nothing else. I think I have 5 skeins of yarn to use as fancy fibers and they are all purple! Oy vey.

I put my wheels in a "cookie container" from Sam's Club. It is made of thin plastic, clear and has little channels for the cookies (which kinda holds the wheels in place). I especially like it over the dowl method because when I wanted the wheel at the bottom I had to take all of the ones off to get to it. With the cookie containers they are horizontal and I just pick the one I want. Best part is it was free (well, I had to buy the cookies and of course eat them).
Also, a similiar container that holds 4 lbs. of strawberries is great for holding my small rolls of ribbon. It has slots for air to get to the stawberries which works great for feeding the ribbon through to pull. Again, strawberries 4.99, container freeeeeeee!
Joann's has a plastic storage case in the craft department that has locking compartments. I store all my embellishments in them. You can unlock one or more compartments at a time. I think it's easier to get the embellishments out of the compartments when you only open one at a time, then you can dump the "stuff" out in your hand.
