2007 Christmas Cards???
You have 363 days until next Christmas--have you started next year's Christmas cards yet? :-D
Feel free to scream or jump up and down. I was wondering about this the day after Christmas. I had a feeling if I asked this bombshell of a question, I'd see some fun responses. <laughing my head off as I type>.

LOL, I'm thinking the big stack of Christmas cards I finished on 12/24 but haven't written or mailed will be my 2007 cards--and I'll send New Year's cards for this holiday season. . .

I plan to start mine in Jan with the Christmas Card Challenge. I found that when I signed up for that and did a few every month, then it didn't stress me out and I was done by October.

I did really well in the beginning with that. I fell off the wagon sometime during the summer.

I picked packs of stationary, die cuts, and envelopes at target...does that count? I do have a plan for the "photo card" part of it too...I think I might start cutting the cardstock in my free time and even address some of the envelopes so I have more free time around xmas...who knows if DH will be around for next xmas, he might be deployed....so I want to have things lined up just in case he is gone.
I plan on using a simular idea as mytimes card Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
I voted "Yup". I haven't actually started, but I will soon. I joined the Christmas Card Challenge for 2007, so I'll have at least 10 done by Jan. 31st.

This was the first year that I made all of my Christmas cards (I made some cards for family and very close friends last year). I was pleasantly surprised by the number of people who commented about this year's cards and the whole experience has left me feeling warm and fuzzy. I'll definitely do my own again next year, and my intention is to get them started nice and early. Well, that's my thinking right now, anyway! ;)
Trace you're a nut!!!! Even though I am a crazy rabid squirrel, I do not plan to have my cards done this year before the end of the summer! I made a total of 50 this year (maybe a couple more), which is less than usual for me. Last year I made closer to 100 I think. I'll probably make about 50 for next year, too. It's a much more manageable number!

I joined the Christmas card challenge for 2007 also, and have my first 5 made. I'll make the full challenge (ten each month through November) and probably more, and send extras to the troops. We send out/give about 70 cards each Christmas.
Since addressing the envelopes is the WORST part. I am thinking of putting a baggie of envelopes in my purse so in my "wait times" I can address my envelopes.

Good idea. Too bad I already know I'd loose them.

I picked the have an idea option. I'm pondering sets at the moment. For the last three years, I've made 120 cards. I'll probably make 125 or 130 for next Christmas. By March, I will at least start the stamping part.

Love this idea, this was my only draw back this year!! I had my 35 cards made by Mid- November. I think I'm going to do Five a month this year as I'm going to try to send more this year!! Hope fully it works out!! And I'm going to do my enveoples as I finish each sets of cards!
I will use my 2006 cards that I made and never mailed out. I have some pre cut I just need to put together. I want to be able to send out cards next year so I am determined to get them done earlier this year.

I said, "NO ARE YOU NUTS!!!" LOL!!! I am lucky to have made 50 cards this year for all my LOSTIES and maybe will get started on my Valentine's Day cards.
I'm going to 'try' and do what I did last year. . . I made 100 cards and had them ALL done before the end of January, so all that was left for me in December was addressing envelopes. Had 'em all out BEFORE Christmas!! My mom also made 100 cards--we didn't get started on hers until Thanksgiving, but had them done and sent out by mid-December, so did O.K. there as well. BUT I want to have BOTH her and my cards done before spring. And, I think I'll have to go with 125 this year for me!
So, does that actually make me a rabid squirrel?!

You know, I really don't want people to spoil my delusions with reality.
I made about a dozen different Christmas cards. I do a monthly swap so I just didn't want to crank out the same Christmas card assembly line style. So beginning in November, I just made a couple of different ones every week and everybody got their own card. Plus there's still people I haven't seen yet that I'm still going to make some cards for. I bought a gorgeous stamp...I saw it at my LSS and didn't get it and went back the week before Christmas and they had 1 left so I got it. I think it's gorgeous anyway. It's cardinals and some winter scenery...the sample cards were so beautiful. Anyway it makes me think of my great aunt in the nursing home...she loved watching the birds at her bird feeder...so maybe that's why I love it so much. But I'm sending her a card with that one..kind of a winter hello card. And I dug through my old Christmas stamps and found a great big Santa stamp with Santa and some animals in a stable kind of thing, that I have to figure out something with. I bought it loooong ago when I was new to stamping and had no idea what to do with it (still don't..haha) but I'm going to play with it.
So I'll try to make a Christmas card when the mood strikes me throughout the year and send em off in December!
I couldn't even bring myself to sign my Christmas cards. I just signed the family newsletter I included. I figured people will just assume I forgot to sign the card.
I usually need about 75 - 100 and I have about 10 leftovers, so i'm a bit ahead of the game :-) Since I joined SCS I have seen about 100 different Christmas cards I would love to case for 2007! so i don't think I'll have any problems with my cards next year.
I didn't do cards at all this year - just too unorganised and all. I voted "No - are you all crazy?" because I think it's funny and because I haven't started on anything for next year yet. I don't think make-ahead-card people are crazy - just a wee bit obsessive maybe, but certainly not crazy.

I have the idea and hope to get them started in a couple weeks...just waiting for the rest of my materials to come in the mail. I make about 50 usually, but will probably make closer to 75 this year. Hope to have them all done by Spring!
On a different note, I have been continuing to send cards to my Aunts and Uncles and my husbands Aunts and Uncles who don't send us a card in return. I want to cross them off my list...is that rude? It might be the only chance for them to see a picture of my girls or the family...yet they can't even make an effort?!? I'm torn.

Michelle, that is a quandary! I'm a family person & I've kept in really great touch with my aunts and uncles, and occasionally talk to some of my cousins. So my situation's not quite the same as your's, but I have crossed people off my list, including cousins, who never returned cards or stopped being in touch. I don't think there's any sense in keeping on with sending cards to people who don't ever acknowledge them, whether related to me or not. It's not about cards to me - it's about keeping in touch & having the consideration to at least acknowledge receiving something. Some of the people I'm in touch with don't do cards - instead, they call, & that's fine enough for me.
So I'd say go with your gut, whether it's crossing them off or keep sending them cards. I pray you make the right decision.

I keep these close relatives on the list...aunts & uncles because you just never know...we move a lot also so I give most people the benefit of te doubt that it got lost in the mail.

mindy
I haven't moved in 7 years and still no word from some of them. I realize that some people do not send cards out...I'll probably keep doing it. :-D Thanks!

I signed up for the Christmas card challenge and plan to have 10 done every month from January to November. I will follow Kittie's lead and use the challenges to come up with 10 different cards each month, so next year every card will be truly unique.
That challenge is a great idea! I'm going to join! I have to get some supplies first - when I moved back south I got rid of all my paper & some of my extras, but I kept my favourite stamps. So I have to stock up again, but that won't be a problem. I'll set my starting point as February, though. That should be realistic for me. Great idea!

I have always sent cards to people who don't send to me, but that is entirely up to you. If you want to "exchange cards", then drop those who don't send, but if you want to keep in touch with people, keep on sending. I have several older people on my "send" list who have sent to me year after year. Then they reached a point where it is just too expensive for them or their eyesight is failing and they have thanked me for my cards even tho they can no longer "exchange".
