I am going to become a demostrator in April so I thought I'd better take advantage of all the 50% off sets in order to add to what I can demo. The only thing is that if they are not in the new catty, they only help me for a few months. I know you don't know what will or won't make it in the new one but what is your best guess? Would you advise me to go ahead and buy all of them or would some of them not be great sets to demonstrate? I don't know about Lovely As a Tree and Summer By The Sea may take to long for them to complete at a party. Do you agree with that? Are the other sets great sets to demo?
I persoanlly do not see any of these sets retiring any time soon. One of my favorite sets ever is the Shapes and Shadows. Love this set! I just did a demo tonight and that's the set I used. Congrats on joining in April!! You'll just love it!

I would say that the Sincere Salutations (ones that were given as Christmas gift to demos) will be in the new catty. As far as the others, I would (am) purchase them. If they retire you can always trade them for something else on this site. You could even use the ones that you didn't use as gifts for drawings, auctions, etc. It is always nice to have extra full UM sets around for a last minute gift/drawing. Use one for a display basket with all of the frilly stuff to make it look nice or as a incentive for a potential new recuit. Really how could you go wrong, they cost 50% plus you get free shipping for the first 45 days of being a demo, and it counts towards your quartly requirements (granted you are signing up in April so you basically get a free quarter before you actually HAVE to have a min) (I did this last year, April 6 is my anniversary) but it is worth it. Hope this helps.
Summer by the Sea is use all the time at workshops and my customers love it. Doesn't take long at all. I would definitely invest in that set if I were you. It's one of my favs.

You don't get FREE shipping for the first 45 days.... You get 30% off your first Hostess order which amounts to your 20% and free shipping.. I think you just had it worded wrong.
The 50% off stamp sets are all great and it would be wonderful to have them all. Stampin' UP! has said that Sincere Salutaions will be in the New Catty, but has not committed to the other sets. Last year I bought all the 50% off March specials and all of them were discountinued. I do not know if that is a trend but I am keeping it in mind. I have used those sets on the craft fair end of the business though so they are not a loss. Hope this helps in your business spending plans.
It does!! I will buy them all with maybe the exception of Lovely As A Tree. No one commented on if that would demo well and with no experience I am guessing it would not. Thanks for your input!
Stampin' Up! did not have sets for 50 percent off last March. They had a special in December 2003 where you could purchase certain holiday stamps for 50 percent off with a minimum purchase. Those did retire. I have only been a demo for 2 1/2 years but this is the first time I remember them selling sets for 50 percent off with no additional purchase. It is such a great deal! I'm not sure about the retiring status but Shapes and Shadows is featured so heavily in this year's catalogue that I would have a hard time believing it would retire. Sincere Salutations will be in the new catalogue. Not sure about the others. Even if you have the sets for a few months to demo, they are still a great deal. You can always sell your retired sets after they retire. They retain great value after they retire.

Lovely as a Tree is my most versatile set. If I don't know what to do, I do something with that set. I use the grouping of bare trees the most, that is the set that got me to be a demonstrator. I tell all my customers if you don't have that set, to get it now, it is one set you can use all year long. And I will never get rid of that set. Almost all of my customers have that set now, or are buying it this month, so I know if I demo it, they can do cards with it at home. A MUST have set.
I love the Lovely as a tree set, it is actually my favorite set! My dad (who really thinks stamping cards is a waste of time) commented on a card that I made with this set. He will be getting a card from this set for every occassion (until he says something nice about my other cards!)
