Default 80's party invitation - need ideas

Help! My hubby is a child of the 80's and I want to make invitations for an 80's themed party. Just wondering if anyone had cute ideas!

Definitely use bold brights in there! Remember all those wild colors? And don't forget to use some lingo.

As far as stamps sets go, I'm not that familiar with them to figure out what to use but I'm sure someone here has some bright ideas.

Use Simple Shapes to make some funky backgrounds - and Bold Brights for sure!

If you have the retired Wild Things set, you could make one of those shirt cards and use the alligator for that ever-famous logo...

I made an 80s anniversary card for my husband last year. The front of the card looked like a dress shirt (colored paper with a white collar in 80s turquoise) with a skinny black tie. The inside said "I'd still stop the world and melt with you."

Maybe you could collage some 80s pop culture references (tv ads like where's the beef, song lyrics, movie titles, tv show references) or make a story out of titles/ads like:

It's a surprise so don't "SAY ANYTHING" about the "PARTY GOIN ON RIGHT HERE." If you're wondering "WHERE'S the BEEF," we will be serving hot roast beef sandwiches....blah blah. You get the picture!

good luck!

did he tight roll his jeans at the bottom? maybe you could have a tight rolled jean party!

Being a fellow "child of the 80's", I would suggest color combinations of red & black (think Michael Jackson's thriller outfit) or pink & grey. Turquoise was popular. And don't forget the Miami Vice white sports jacket w/ the sleeves rolled up (always with a bright t-shirt)...might be able to adjust a dress shirt card to resemble that.

I love the idea of using the 80's catch phrases. Remember the Valley Girl jargon. "Like Totally", "Gag me with a Spoon", "I'm so sure", etc.

Good luck!

Don't want to hijack the thread -- but I had a 35th birthday party for my husband this summer, and for the "dessert table," I ordered a box of candy from this site --

http://www.oldtimecandy.com/30th-birthday-gifts.htm

-- they call the box something like Candy You Ate As A Kid (they have an assortment for every decade starting with the 50's).

I stamped little white treat bags, and gave one out to everyone, and then opened the box . . . and everyone had a great time going through the box, filling their bags, and reminicing about the different types of candies . . . just an idea for you!

Default Ha Ha, you guys are great!!

Thanks for the totally awesome 80's ideas. You've got my wheels turning. Can anyone point me in the direction of the shirt card pattern?

Wasn't life *so* different then? Now, it's "Gag Me With a Stamp," and "I'm Like, *SO* Over Gamsol" and "Pearl Ex Floored? As *IF*!"

How fun is this thread. . .the 80s were pretty good to me as I got married in '84 and made some wonderful friends through that decade! Enjoying reminiscing.
