Default ? about clipboards

I have seen so many altered clipboards here. Do you alter the back too? How are you supposed to use some of them that have so much "art" on them?

I don't alter the back. I usually hang mine up so you don't see the back.

Red face ? about clipboards

another ? Does anyone actually use them? I would like to, but wonder about it being too bumpy. I haven't yet made one but am wanting to get one done soon. Are there any tricks to it or just go with what feel good? Also does it get finished with Mod Podge or something else?

I don't alter my backs either...I have used mine...While it isn't quite as smooth as I'd like, they are useable. I don't put any ribbon or HHH on the actual "board" itself so that I can use it. I do put it on the clip part at the top to dress it up.

I put a thin layer of modge podge directly on the clipboard, then lay down the paper. I do find that if you are using two different papers that they need to be of the same weight. I tried using a one-sided patterned paper and a cardstock and they were too different in weight and the joint between them is too bumpy..
To finish it...I wait 5-10 minutes for it to dry then apply one or two thin layers of modge podge over the top. Works like a champ!!

I always alter the backs! I figure if they are used at all, the back will be the only part you see. I cut paper to fit the fronts and backs, round the corners, and xyron it on with my xyron 900. Then I use a coat or two or three of mod podge to really make it stick. Most of mine are teacher gifts, so I wnt them to be useful. But I try to make them pretty and not teacher-y. No teacher wants to see any more apples in schools.
