Default ? about PC silent setter

Just purchased it and it worked great with the eyelets it came with, but now I'm trying to use it with making memories eyelets and I have the old setter and hammer out b/c I cant get them to set? Is this b/c of the eyelets?
I just signed on as a demo. Are SU eyelets better to work with?
Help!

I have the SS also and like it except with the Memories eyelets. It is very hard for me to set them. I've been told you can use them with Memories eyelets but requires extra strength. I've heard the SU eyelets are soft and easier to set with the SS. Which sucks because I have a TON of memories eyelets.

Default Silent Setter

The only think that works with making memories eyelets is a setter & a hammer! We get lots of complaints in AC Moore that none of their eyelets work well with any of the new silent setters that are out there including the click-it or the one from Provo Craft. Much extra strengh has to be applied if you even have a chance of setting MM eyelets with any of these tools. They are made out of heavy metal, not brass or tin which are much softer & easy to set. Treasured Memories makes nice soft eyelets and of course Stampin' Up!
Thanks

Most of the new eyelet setters (spring loaded and silent) do not work with MM eyelets because of the type of metal those are made of. MM just came out with their own instant eyelet setter. I just purchased one at Michael's with a coupon last week. It works GREAT for MM eyelets. Takes 2-3 punches and it's set perfectly.

Question... is the MM instant setter also quiet? Able to use while a toddler's napping in the next room?

I have used my silent setter with MM eyelets. You just need to make sure something sturdy is under the little mat. They are harder to smash but can be done. The SU! eyelets flatten no problem with it!

propecia - you made me look twice at your advatar! I was like - damm - she's hot. And then I realized it was our favorite intern Paris. Nice one!

Anyways, I am about to sell all of my MM eyelets because I love my Silent Setter so much but can't set them unless I twist & twist & twist.... Doodlebugs makes a nice soft eyelet and it sets very easily too.

I have trouble with MM eyelets too. I did find a place where they sell eyelets that only take a writing pen to set. They are called Quicklets you can get them on ebay or straight from http://www.eyeletoutlet.com/

I can use my silent setter with my MM eyelets IF I stand up to do it. It does require extra pushing and twisting which I can do if I stand. I just have WAY too many of those darned MM eyelets to get rid of them so instead I'm trying to use them all up LOL!

Hi
I also have the Pv Silent Setter. LOVE IT !!! Don't waste yout money on the making memories eyelets.. They are less expensive but difficult to use. I tried those & others because of course the 50 it came with didn't last long. I finally got some stampin up eyelets and they are awesome. they are softer and you can sit down and use them .. The making memories ones are made of steel so you need to put your body weight into it. Not worth it!

For those that have so many MM eyelets they can't afford to replace them and saw my earlier post about the MM Instant Eyelet setter, it is NOT silent. However, it's pretty nifty. I have too many MM eyelets to afford replacing and figured it was cheaper for me to buy the setter with a coupon than replace everything and have to give the MM ones away. As I begin to use up colors, I'll replace them with SU eyelets.

The PC silent setter rocks but doesn't work with MM eyelets. Lesson learned: stick with Stampin' Up. I've had no problems with their eyelets. And, my DH loves that I'm not pounding anymore!

Does the silent setter just set the eyelets? Or does it poke the hole as well? I'm thinking even it sets the eyelets silently, you'd still have to make noise to punch your hole (if you're using and anywhere hole punch).

????????????

Good question. I'm planning to get one soon - with a 40% off coupon from AC Moore.

To punch the holes, I recently invested in a Japanese Screw Punch. It wasn't cheap, but I absolutely love it! Silent and easy.

Sencie,

It does have the holepunch. In a really nifty case you get the handle, three hole punches, three setter ends, a mat and 50 eyelets.
I would not be without my setter, it is fantastic, and truly silent. The punches and the setters fit into the handle magnetically.

Does PC stand for Provo Craft, and can you give me a ball park on how much it costs? I get migraines, and the pounding really gets to me, but will I stop using eyelets.......You guessed it! NO!!! I have already invested in both eyelet setters that SU! sells, so I don't 'need' it. But I love the idea of it being silent!!!! Thanks for giving me a ballpark. :-)

Yes, Provo Craft. My local craft store sells it for $17.99 and I used a 40% coupon on it -- definitely worth the money! I love that it really is silent and a breeze to use with SU eyelets!

My Michael's does not have the Provo Craft Silent Setter (or any silent setter).

Have any of you bought yours online? If so, through what website?

Thanks.

One of my local scrapbooking stores had it, and Hobby Lobby just started carrying them, too. HTH

Default the trouble with hard eyelets

I've also been having difficulty with it. Its fine on soft small eyelets without any embellishement. I've just been trying to use it on some daisy ones I've got and I couldn't even do it with the old fashioned hammer and setter. I think some of the metals are really tough to get through. It's excellent for making the holes - just got to do the hard eyelets during the day to stop annoying the neighbors!

I love my PC Silent Setter. I use MM eyelets (some, not all, I love my SU ones too!) but I do have to stand up to use it, and really honk on that puppy to make them set right! Mind you, using a hammer, it smashes the heck outta the back too....

I paid $15 Canadian for mine, but I got it wholesale.

LOVE love love love love it!
