I am a demo trying to decide which credit card vendor to go with. I have had many requests from customers to acceot credit cards and would like to know which one you all like! Discover? or Propay?
What are advantages/disadvantes of different companies and have you had any problems with any?
I only take cash and checks, both which seem to be a hastle since I have to have change handy for cash and many customers forget their checkbooks. I let them mail me a check but then I have to keep track of who paid... it's a nightmare.
I didn't want to pay a percentage to the cc companies, but I see it's worth saving me the headache.
I am not a demonstrator but sell products from my website and I really recommend Paypal. They accept credit card payments from anyone and that person no longer needs to have a paypal account to do it. Their fees are cheaper and getting a paypal account for you is free. You only pay per transaction.
You can invoice anyone with an e-mail account - it is that easy. You can also send money to anyone with an e-mail account. I signed up for a stamp camp this weekend and I send that demonstrator my camp fees through Paypal.
I really like it. I did have Propay but found them to be twice as expensive as paypal.
I do like using global payments by Discover Buisness services. You don't have to pay anything except for when you use it. It is cheaper to accept Discover and like 3% for MC & Visa. I do it over the phone. You don't have to have any equipment. My rep even told me to put credit cards under our order forms and rub the top with the bone folder. That way you get an impression of the card and you don't have to buy anything to do it.
I use propay and have had no problems at all. It's quick and requires no equipment. If you choose propay - make sure you get the Stampin' Up! deal if you are a demo. Here is the link - good luck!
Be careful with that deal.....read the fine print. You don't actually get your $29.95 annual fee rebated unless you turn in $660 in transactions within 90 days! Further, they are not guaranteeing that this $29.95 annual fee will be waived in the future.

USE CAUTION!!!!!
That's for the Premium account. You don't need the premium account to process CC's. The premium account just lets you access the money quicker. The regular classic account has no annual fee. See this link: https://epay.propay.com/applicationD..._classicB.html
I use Propay (classic) and paypal. Love them both. Not all my customers have paypal accounts. For those I use Propay.
I have PayPal and ProPay. I like the PayPal because I have their debit card and I can get my money right away. I like ProPay because there is less work for the customer. The customer must reply to an email. A lot of my customers don't check their email often and may forget. If I just take the information and use the ProPay, the customer doesn't have anything else to do except wait for their product.

My Su demonstrator accepts my paypal to her paypal account and she will take the Paypal Mastercard. You use the same as a credit card. I love it!!
