Default Adhesive for quart jars

To those of you who have made quart jar mixes as gifts & adhered a label on the jar--What adhesive works best? (I've tried brand name medium-sized glue dots in the corners and center of my labels, but the label likes to come off the jar anyway.)

Because I did really simple labels with no embellishments I used clear packaging tape and just taped it on. It did make them waterproof.

Try to use a thinner cardstock, that will help. I've had luck with pink tape.
