Default Advice on Card

I'm trying to get ready for my Sneak Peek Stamp Camp tomorrow featuring the new colors and some of the new Stamp Sets that will be in the new catty. I could use some advice on this one card I made. I was trying to do a shabby chic look which is not my strong point!

Does it work with the ribbons? Should I have attached them to the bottom of the main image instead of the top and put the sentiment near the top of the card? Please give me some suggestions and help. Thanks!

I haven't tried shabby chic yet, but I think the colors and textures are nice. I think maybe the ribbon would work better a little shorter and vertical as you suggested. Maybe move the ribbon to where the sentiment is and move the sentiment up. HTH.

Very pretty card. Perhaps just "distress": the ribbon. I'll allow others to comment on the placement - that is definitely not my strength...

Love the colors!!!! Maybe cut the ribbon a little shorter and put them in a row from top to bottom above "SMILE". That would make it more semetrical. Let us know what you decide! Good luck with your camp tomorrow!

Where the ribbon is at right now is kinda overpowering and taking away from the flowerhead. I don't know where else to put them though.

Overall I like the card but I played with it a bit in my graphics program to see what I thought of the different placements mentioned. Switching the word up and the ribbons down didn't seem to make much difference to me. Making it so the ribbons came from under the image layers rather than on-top of them was a very different look but I honestly can't say if I thought it was better or not. Another thing I tried was seperating the ribbons and attaching them from the right hand side, one above the other..I didn't care for that at all. Then I turned the card 90 degrees, placed the image along the left side as in the original, put the word under the image and had the ribbons shooting off to the right as in the original. I kind of liked this.. maybe just a wee bit more than the original. Someone mentined distressing the ribbons and I think that is a grand idea.. they would balance with the distressing on the edges of the white card and wouldn't overpower as much. I guess my bottom line is that I don't think your card is 'broke' and I've always heard, "if it aint broke, don't fix it."

Has anyone ever used so many words to say 'I don't know'? LOL

I would just cut the ribbons shorter. Otherwise I like it the way it is.

Thanks for all the great ideas and suggestions! I really appreciate the help. For now, I've just cut the ribbons a little shorter and that does help.

I tried distressing the ribbon as several mentioned, but couldn't get a look I liked. I just distressed small pieces of the same color ribbon to see if I could get it to work, since I didn't want to mess up the ribbons on the actual card. I'm probably just "ribbon distressing" challenged, but I could not get it to look good. Any suggestions on distressing ribbon so it doesn't just look like a muddy mess?

I'm not going to rearrange my sample because it would be a pain to move the ribbon thanks to the staples. I'm just going to leave it as is for now. I might suggest to my Campers that they could try a different layout (suggesting all those mentioned, thanks!) and see if they like it better.

Thanks again for all the replies.
