Alcohol Inks- Where do you get yours? and small Js rant
At the beginning of July I found a pretty nice sale on Joann's website. I bit the bullet and ordered about 10 of the sets. Took 3 weeks for the package to come had everything I had ordered, EXCEPT the Alcohol Inks! Called Joann's the next day, they said that it had been sold out and helped me re-place the order. Now, 3 weeks after that (today), I call to try and figure out where my box is and the order was canceled all together. Why? Because they say they cannot be air shipped to AK. All irritation aside, I'm wondering if anyone here buys their alcohol inks online? If so, where and are they air shipped?
SMALL Joann's rant: After all is said and done with that story, YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD CONTACT ME TO LET ME KNOW THE SITUATION! GOOD GREIF! I sat here waiting 6 weeks! if they had contacted me from the start I would only be able to say their shipping time sucks!
Hi,
I don't think you can get them air shipped, my mom lives in PR and whenever I've tried to get her the AI's I always get the same answer from any vendor, no air shipping only ground. So my mom stays alcohol inkless :(. I know some people probably know how to get around that so I'm curious myself.
You know, I almost don't care how long I have to wait if I can get a great price! Those sets of three are anywhere from $12.00-$15.00 regular price. I got them on sale for $5.00 a peice for the 3 pk. I ordered a ton so I could get a great price. If they offered to ship it super slow on a truck I would have taken it! I am not in that big of a hurry. And of course, everyone up here either doesn't have a good selection or they never go on sale. Even if I can use a coupon, I have to pick one up per day per store. I would rather get everything I want at once and wait 3 months for a truck!
Very frustrating that they didn't let you know what was going on - I really don't like the way they handle backorders. So far I've been lucky and haven't had to deal with it, but I know my mother placed an order and added items to get the order over the amount for free shipping - of course, the big item she really wanted was backordered, so they canceled that and shipped the rest, which now no longer qualified for the free shipping. She ended up refusing the entire order and raised a ruckus to get a full refund to her credit card.
I don't know if this helps, but would a Canadian company be able to ship these to you? Quietfire Designs carries all the colors HERE - the price is not as good as what you had, though. And their shipping to Alaska might still be air mail.
So if alcohol inks cannot go airmail, then how are Copics shipped from Japan??? Those are alcohol inks too. And all the Copics that I order come via Priority mail from oozak in Wisconsin maybe. I know that to arrive in 2 days they come via plane.
Pretty much most things coming from overseas will come via container ship. That would be surface, not air.
I know that in Europe, anyway, even with overseas shipping there are restrictions on alcohol-based paints and suchlike. You can only pack a certain amount on a pallet- I think it's to do with fire hazard or something, and insurance restrictions. (I'm talking wholesale amounts here, not personal).
So I am not surprised that there is an issue with alcohol inks too, although I must say I always get mine from Frantic Stamper without any problems at all.
Are you close to a stamp store? Like the independent kind...
Here in the Dallas are I just ask Stamp Asylum to order stuff for me. Sure, I pay the retail price but her prices are good and she does not charge shipping to me!
