LOL!!! I used to be sick organized and then DD turned 2- Now I am lucky to get everything locked up in time!!! I guess I know explosions pretty well too!
. . . are you as organized in other aspects of your life?
I used to be organized until I started university as a mature student (30-ish). Then suddenly I was so busy, I made a conscious choice: get decent marks, don't worry about being organized. Somehow, it just carried on after I was back to my regular life.
One of the things that has to be organized in my life is my spices -- they're alphabetical!

I am somewhat organized. I have a hard time being creative if I can't find the things I am looking for. So every thing has a place to go. When I am in the middle of a project things are everywhere but it needs to be picked up and put out of sight/reach of the kids otherwise they will get creative in a way I don't really appreciate!
I'm going to have to figure out how to get more organized soon. We are moving and my new craft space serves double duty as a basement kitchenette that we would also like to use to entertain. So now the majority of my stuff needs to be able to be stashed out of sight. Any organization tips for cabinetry would be greatly welcomed.
Hahahahahahahahahaha! *looks around living room/crafting area* Hahahahahahahaha!
I did the same thing!!! I haven't had a real living room or even porch for weeks. My stamps and supplies are like rabbits, they keep reproducing and the empty places in my rooms get smaller and smaller. Next thing I know, they'll be moving into the bathroom!

I am pretty organized. I am not anal about but yes I am organized. I make a mess when I stamp but I do have habit to put it all away. If I walk into my craft and its messy I would just shut the door and not do anything. Also if I walked in there to create and it was messy, after I cleaned up I lost the desire to create anything. Organization does not come easily it is a forced habit. Same with everything else. It just makes things easier when its organized. I don't spend an hour finding my buttons, etc.

I'm organzied, if not I won't stamp. I gotta know where the stuff is and get right to it. For years my stampin stuff was in boxes and piles and more boxes and piles (you get the picture) anyways I didn't stamp I didn't want to fumble through boxes and piles etc.. Sooooo, now I'm organized and I stamp !!! well when mommy has a free moment like Midnight!!!!
I consider myself a fairly organized stamper. When I am not stamping, everything is neatly put in it's spot. After I finish a project, and before I start another, I HAVE to put everything back in it's spot, otherwise I quickly lose interest and inspiration....I am easily overwhelmed by the messy chaos. And I agree, salty snacks, chocolate, and beverages are a no-no at the craft table. Cause I am clumsy!
I am just like you. I can only craft if my table is clean before I start. The mess annoys me and I have to clean it before I can create.
My stuff is organised in a way that only makes sense to me, but I know where everything is.
I have learned my lesson from eating and crafting, don't do it anymore!
Everyone should go take a look at the Artist of the Week gallery at PennywiseArts.com. Most of the artists have posted pics of their studios in their bio. Holy moley! Lots of "organized chaos"!
Makes me feel much better.

I try to be organized. When I stamp or scrapbook I clean up in between new cards or pages. In real life...not so much...I think my family has a conspiracy to foul up any attempt at my organization. Hey who else can I blame? Surely not me?

I am very organized, with my stamping stuff.I went to a crop with some friends and when I opened up my paper container ,the other girl that was with us just dropped her jaw.she looked at me and said you color code your paper. My girlfriend walked in the room a few minutes later and noticed it right away and thought it was penny's bag.and said well this must be penny's and she said no way I'm not THAT organized.
I label everything.even my scrap paper is color coded so I can find the colors much easier and faster.
My decorative scissors tray has a small strip of paper taped to the holder under each scissor so that I know what the cut looks like befoe I even take it out of the holder.I cut small pieces of paper and taped them to the holder.
My dad is very organized.I don't know anyone who is more organized than him.He makes out an Itinerary for every day.he's 74 and he has been doing this for as long as I can remember.he has stuff written down like pay bills at such and such place, get a money order for this bill, get milk ,bread etc.weed garden, mow lawn.
He even starts his vacation planner the following day he gets back from the vacation he just got home from so everything is fresh in his mind.He does more around the house cleaning than my mother does.
I know this sounds weird but I wished My husband was more like him.he's the biggest slob he never picks up after him self.

The only thing that is organized in my room are my stamp sets. Well.......not organized or sorted by any means. But just that they are all together in one spot! And last night I just finished putting labels on the back with the page # etc., on there. I even put all the retired sets in one area, instead of having them mixed in! Now I am trying to clean up the rest of the room. It is time to have a craft yard sale!!!
And if you anal girls saw what my room looks like now I know I would hear you screaming here in Maryland!
I like to organize (used to be a cataloging librarian) and I get great satisfaction from having all of my stamping stuff neatly categoried in boxes, containers, and storage units.
OMG! I think I've found a new career! I'm sure it doesn't pay much, but I could certainly see me as a cataloging librarian!
I absolutely LOVE it when my stuff is organized. I have special places for everything, it's all labeled, and I track it all on a complex Excel worksheet! Anal? I'd like to call it structured!
Here is a picture of a night stamping at my place....
What a great picture! Mine is just as messy, but I worry about the food, so I keep it in the kitchen.
I seem to start organizing, then never finish. I started an organizational album, but I got tired of stamping everything just in navy. I had a system going as to which pile of stamps was already cataloged. Then I had to move everything (my stamping space is my dining room). So, now when I go back to cataloging, I have to check each set to see if I've done it yet. That takes too much time! I may never finish.
This is my first post to a thread - I just had to reply to this one. I am organized in every aspect of my life - both at home and at work. My husband built a storage unit for my stamping supplies - I have a slot for every SU color cardstock, which also holds the marker and the stamp pad for that color. And my stamps are on shelves below this unit - all alphabetized, of couse! I hate to waste time looking for things when I could be stamping. I'm also a quilter and my sewing room has one wall with all my fabric - sorted by color, of course. My family just shake their heads and roll their eyes and put up with me.

How did you get in my home?? I would looooove to be organized, buuuut I just can't get to that point for some reason. It can be hard when you have two dk's under the age of five. Can you stamp and clean at the same time? I am trying this theory out to see if it is at all possible.;)

Ha Ha Ha . . . I do keep things put away, for the most part - except for my ink caddy which stays on my kitchen counter, but otherwise I have things so spread out around my house that only I can find things. I am a self-proclaimed perfectionist, and I try very hard to keep things organized. It is one of life's greatest challenges. Especially when your two kids get their organizational skills from the OTHER side of the family!!!
I am the most anal-retentive organizational freak that I know. All my friends comment when they see my house and my stamping room...I can't live in clutter or chaos, it stresses me out

There's an organized person inside me trying to get out, really!! Right now, though, things are pretty chaotic with an energetic 3 YO and 18 MO trying desperately to keep up. It doesn't help that I'm trying to do general purging right now, so I'm clinging to the thought that "It has to get worse before it gets better."
(And did I mention that I won a "Messiest Stamp Room" contest earlier this year? Now that's a title I don't care to flaunt ;) )

Eve - Very funny! a few weeks ago a friend came over to stamp and she knows how organized I am. So, we open a basket/drawer of my stamp sets and she says "what? Not alphabetized"... and I thought "why not? I can't believe I haven't done that!"
So now, it's all alphabetized, after sorting by box size of course
Actually, because I prefer to spend my time being creative, my studio is usually an absolute pit, because I hate to break way from creating to clean.
Obviously, I would probably be a LOT more productive during my creative time, if I would just take the time to clean and organize regularly, because then I'd spend less time trying to figure out where I've put things . . .
Crikey, if you only knew how much time I waste hunting for stuff I know I bought, but cannot find . . . LOL! AUGH!

That's it!!! I am so organized when I put my stuff away! I can tell you every little dot and which set it belongs to. But I can't do it during the creative process! I'm at my mom's house this week and I brought a "few" items. She just shook her head when she saw my mess and said, "My Lord girl, how do you find anything in that mess!" My response was, "I don't!!"
It's like the black hole of stamping! I set something down then spend 10 minutes looking for it! Great stuff can come from the rubble though!
Creativity is geometrically opposed to creativity in my life! Two different sides of the brain try ing to work at once, the left one gets bumped out if the right one is functioning!
Heck no !! I look organized but once the stamping begins there it goes. I do try and organize and I am actually addicted to plastic containers and always on the look out for things I can use to help organize and store. The way I see it is the better orgainized I am the more stuff I can crame into my scrapbook room !! lol but like I said when I actually start to work and get busy on a project everything becomes very UNorganized until the project is complete. I just start with an idea and I start pulling things out and ya know you cant just stop in the middle of a brain storm. Anyway, goodluck and happy scrapin'
I am organized in the sense that all my stamping stuff is one room. LOL:lol: Seriously, the only thing in my craft room that is organized all the time is my color caddy. I have the ink families alphabetized. My ribbons are somewhat organized. I just bought some organizers for them at Michael's. Other than the inks and ribbon, my life is chaotic.

I love to organize my stuff. Every few months I'll go in and re-arrange and try to make up the most ergonomic and space-efficient room that I can.
Then I get stamping...
I finish up the project I'm working on and because I've just spent three weeks not stamping and cleaning instead I go to put away everything. But oh crud I have to make a card for so-and-so, dang that poodle he's arfing again - what does DD want NOW? - opps, forgot to write that paper for school - man am I'm tired, it's time for bed. Next time I go in and my room looks like a hurricane came through. But I feel like stamping so I just jump right into it and this goes on for a few months until I decide that the organization that I put into place a few months ago isn't working out anymore and maybe I should try something else....
A.D.D. - a blessing and a curse
