Default All right creative people! I need some help!

My little sister is getting married in May. She has finally chosen her colors. They will be silver and cornflower blue. I'm not too thrilled because I look terrible in those light colors, but I digress.

I am trying to help her with decoration and invitation/thank you ideas. The problem is, I can't visualize anything with those two colors. Someone please help! I am drawing a blank with what stamp sets to use and I can't even figure out which of our blues would be closest to cornflower. I will be seeing her in a couple of weeks to order dresses and I will take a swatch of the blues with me to choose one, but would like your opinions now so I can have something to show her when I see her. I'm thinking votive boats for the tables and something with vellum for the invites, but my brain stops there.

TIA!!!!! Dawn

That sounds really pretty. What about using SU silver paper. It is so pretty. You would not have to use a whole sheet just maybe some
squares of it. Dont really know what you intend to do but at some
fabric stores they have the mesh in different colors. I got it for mine]
in navy and burgandy and put in hersey kisses and tied it with a ivory
bow and put a little poem on it thanking them for coming to our wedding.
You could even use some of it on the cards somehow. You should be
able to find ribbon in silver and maybe close to the blue you are using.
Good Luck
Julie

This is what I did for my daughters wedding. (500 of them) You could change the blue. It would be pretty with the outside of the flower or the center in the silver. Sorry about the glare on the pic. (flash) I just took them down to the river and took a ton of pics and they picked their favorite. They were pretty inexpensive and really pretty. If you want to add one more step, you could tie a ribbon around the middle with a bow. Silver would be pretty. My budget was blown, so I stopped there. Also when you stamp all that vellum, don't lay the sheets on top of each other. I hit it with my heat tool and then let them lay for a while without stacking to keep them from smearing and they did fine. Hope this helps. Have fun!

depending on the style of her wedding, how about Toile Blossoms? I can totally see this set with SU silver paper and Bordering Blue, and maybe vellum.
Keri, Sereikastamper has at least 1 wedding invitation sample in her gallery using this set. You might want to check it out.

Sounds like a fun project!

Let us know what you come up with!

Hi Dawn - I did a sketch of a basic invitation design that I have used for lots of brides in helping them design their invites at the store that I used to work and teach at. Now to see if I can figure out how to attatch it...... If you want, I can send you a PDF version as well.

oooooooh aaaaaaah those were very close to my wedding colors, silver and periwinkle!

I'm picturing petal prints, the flower stamped in cornflower blue, and the outline embossed in silver...on vellum! pretty pretty!!!

My vote of cornflower blue is Ballet Blue.

I recieved a VERY CLEVER store bought thank you card the other day: I want to copy it. It might be a lovely idea for her shower thank you's? It was a pale blue CS w/ a very broad-lined, circular (like a daisy or a CORNFLOWER!) flower embossed in the middle in silver & then in simple small letters under the flowers was "thank you" in silver emboss. Now hang on for the discription of how it was "hinged" together & opened: 2 cirlces of CS are glued together at the top & the BACK circle is scored just below the glue line. So to open the card, it lifts from the top & a whole circle lifts up & the second circle bends back on the score line. Simple & UNIQUE.

So this is a circle-shaped card?

Thank you all for the ideas. The color scheme is growing on me. I'll check out Keri's gallery for her wedding invites.

I would love any patterns or pdf files with ideas. My email is: [email protected]

Thank you all very much!! Dawn

Oh, and keep the ideas coming. I plan to make several samples in different styles and let her choose the final design. It is her wedding afterall. I suppose I should let her make the decisions .

How about this one (in my gallery)? You could delete "Congratulations" and print the inside with all the information. Perhaps change the white layering paper to silver as well...

Default all right creative people!

I could see some sort of vine, like from Etruscan, embossed in silver on the blue. With silver organdy ribbon or silver cord wrapped around.

Another tip- Watch the HOLIDAY SALES for silver and blue decorations! You will probably be able to get GREAT DEALS on silver ribbons, branches, and other things that could be used as wedding decorations!
