Default Alphabet Advice Please

Hello All!
I am just getting in to SU! and am trying to be organized about my wish list from the new catalog. I am debating on alphabet sets and am hoping you will help me narrow things down. I would like an alphabet set for:
-scrapbook pages (titles and accent letters)
-not small (have small sets from various manufacturers)
-not too trendy, as I want to use this a lot to get my money out of it
-for grown up pages, not to scrap kids or cute stuff
-my style is simple and classic
-suitable for other papercrafts like cards

So please give me reviews of your favorite alphabet sets and which you feel would fit my criteria!
Thanks for your input,
Rachel V.

I just got Headline Alphabet from SU. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a large set -- classic lines.

I don't scrap -- yet, but i've made some cute cards already.

This would be my suggestion.

My favorite alphabet is Whimsical (but it's kinda trendy). That size works well for cards and scrapping. If you want a more traditional look in that size Short Order and Typeset are very nice. Typeset also blends well with Letterpress.

I agree with Tonya, this is a classic set. It works well with lots of the SU stamp sets.

all of them?! Seriously, you will want all of them - but for a first choice scrapbooking alpha, hmmm- Letterpress is great and so is Headline, but the one I think is great is the new Big Deal Alpha. Very fun on sb pages. I have Headline only right now and I do really like it for SB'ing also. Have fun!!

Short Order and Typeset are both versatile, timeless, and not-too-big-nor-too-small for scrappin'. Nothing trendy about either, and they are both clean-lined and easy to read.

For big letters, either Letterpress or Headline would be great.

I have all four of these alphas and use them all! If I could only get one, though, I'd go for either short order or typeset. Their size is just more versatile.

I love Headline and Letterpress. Sometimes if you have a longer title letterpress fits better sometimes. Honestly I started with Headline and now have latterpress and Well Worn Words as well. I am an alphabet addict!

I also really love the alphas from CTMH b/c you can make them spell whatever you like without having to worry if it is even.

I would also recomend Headline or Letterpress. I think they are both very versatile and not trendy. I have Letterpress, it's just more my "style" I guess. Some day I'll probably get Headline as I'm an alphabet junkie and this is one of the few I don't own!

Again, thanks for your help!

Yes, they do sometimes have alphabets in the mini catalogs. None offered in the current Holiday mini.

They just had a good one in the summer mini called Spunky alphabet. They also had one that a lot of people are very sad that didn't make it into the new catalog Tall Tales Alphabet.

I love headline also. But my favorite is big deal alphabet. Go to the gallery and type it in the search and you will see so many cute cards made with it. As I look through the catalog, it seems like they used this set a ton in the samples.
