Okay I know I shouldn't complain but I just have to. I recently joined a swap. The point of the swap was to " make a new pal " You were to decorate a certain pre-determined object with SU products. Then fill with 10.00 worth of stampin' or scrappin' stuff. You then were to reveal yourself to the receiver with a card telling a little about yourself. I had so much fun making and filling mine. The hostess wanted us to all mail our projects to her she would then swap them and send us each one back. By doing it this way we would all be sure not to be stiffed. By doing it this way the shipping was now doulbled so all in all the project ended up costing over $30.00. I couldn't wait to get mine and play with all the goddies it would contain. We'll I got mine in the mail today and I am so disappointed. I by no means whan to be mean but I feel if you are going to join a swap you should send in a top quality item and follow the rules of the swap. What I received today is truly horrible and filled with a bunch of garbage. It met none of the hostesses requierments at all. I will not get into details but I think If I had been the hostess of this swap I would have never sent out what I received. The creator of what I received never revealed herself either. I know many of you will think I'm nasty for complaining but I really just had to. Sorry~
I know how you feel. I make quilts and I was in a fabric swap once. The hostess said she was a non smoker and pet free. Well when I received my fabric it reaked of smoke and I cant wash it because it was small pieces and it would have frayed all over the place. I was so mad I quit doing the swaps.
I know it's a risk you take but I put such time, thought and effort into my swaps that I guess I just expect the same in return. Oh well, now that I got it off my chest I just need to throw it away and stop dwelling on it.
If this happens to me, I have to remind myself that we were all beginners at some point. I hope that whoever received mine, loved it and was inspired by it.
What a disappointing experience! I agree with LadyDye that our creations cannot all be equally beautiful, and that at some point we were all beginners, but this person didn't even bother to share some information about herself ...
Hostessing a swap is pretty tough. From personal experience I can say, that out of your participants, one will sign up and you will never hear from them again, one will sign up but will drop because of personal problems, one person will not send the correct number of swaps, one will be late, one will totally misunderstand the theme of your swap and send you something bizarre. But even so...it was a lot of FUN! And I will host and participate in swaps again.
I've never done a one on one swap...so anytime I've gotten something beginner I also get others.
I know one lady that is a avid swapper, but half of the stuff she gets she remakes into something else! Weird. I just figure my different card levels appeal to different stamper levels.
What I received today is truly horrible and filled with a bunch of garbage.
Could you be more specific with complete details of what you received? What's the saying? "One man's trash is another man's treasure." Maybe you set your expectations too high with what you sent? What was it? Did you contact the hostess and let her know how unhappy you were with the results? I don't know that it would solve anything, but it might give you peace of mind, and benefit her in hosting future swaps. Just my thoughts.

Unfortunately I've had this experience with regular swaps more times than I'd like to count. Out of a swap of 10 or 12 people I only liked 1 or 2 cards. Maybe I'm just too picky, but I've gotten away from swaps entirely because it was just too much work on my part to be disappointed every time. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. Mark this down in the "lessons learned the hard way" category of life.
