Personally I feel it is a waste to spend 99 cents on one piece of paper when I really do not like the other side.
I went shopping to day to find some paper. I find something I like, a nice small flower pattern, stripes or dots and I flip it over and there are these huge ugly flower pattern on the reverse side.
Help me out here. Can you give me a nice designer line to look at or a paper stack. I am really having a hard time finding pattern papers.
Thanks!

Why don't you just use the one side? Most of the time I buy papers for the one side and ignore the other. I consider it a bonus if I like both sides. It doesn't cost any more for double-sided, so don't worry yourself!

I Know, I just feel like 99 cents for one sheet of paper is way to much. We were stationed in Hawaii and I just spent 3 years paying 99cents for one sheet of paper. Was so hoping to spend less money on paper when we came back state side.
What ever happend to 75 cent one sided paper???

The only time I like double sided paper is when I'm using a heavier double sided piece to create a 3-D project where both sides can be seen. Otherwise, I feel like it's way too much money for something that won't be seen. I like the heavier weight that some double sided paper has but unless I'm going to use it for 3-D, it just adds more weight to a scrapbook page or card only to be glued down. Anymore, I'll only buy double sided if I can help it and if I think I'll use it for a 3-D project. Other than that, I feel like it's too much to pay.
I like Basic Grey a lot. I can find some of their stuff at Michael's, Hobby Lobby, or A.C.Moore. Often I pay around .50 - .60 cents per 12 x 12 page because they have sales so often.
There is lots of love out here for the line of papers by October Afternoon. I haven't bought any myself so I'm not sure if it's double sided.
I do sympathize with you though. If the paper I want has two sides I'd really RATHER love both sides since I'm having to pay more for it. But if one of the sides is exactly what I'm looking for I just ignore the other and suck up the cost.
and I love it....glad there's single-sided, double-sided, paper-weight, cardstock-weight, solids, patterns, etc. so that everyone can find something they like. I only buy double-sided, cardstock-weight patterned paper, and I prefer if it is made in the USA...

the 12 x 12 is double-sided, their 8 x 8 paper packs are not....
I fel the same way... I usually only like one side and since it costs moe than single sided I feel it a a waste.
I love the Basic Grey 6x6 pads. The thing I love about them most is that the patterns are actually smaller versions of the 12x12 papers and they work great for cards.
Depends on the paper, most of the time I'm happy with double sided and it takes up less space. I hardly bother at all with DCWV paper packs; too bulky and I usually like less than 20% of the designs in them. The least favorite side of any double sided paper I'll use to line envelopes. I keep cards fairly simple as far as layering so I don't worry about weight.
Love Basic Grey's 6 inch packs, wish SU would get more on the ball with those-or even 8 inch packs.
I actually prefer not to like both sides of the paper. If I do then I HATE having to waste one side when I glue it down. That's what eats me up, all that gorgeous-ness wasted... lol Then I have to get twice as many pieces so I can get equal use out of both sides!
I'm with Katarina! I file my dp by color and hate it when I like both sides because then I don't know where to file it! I should probably file some each way. And I hate gluing on a pretty "back" side! That's the only time I truly wish for single sided.
I like double-sided paper. It gives me two choices instead of one. It can also be used for pocket cards where you see the inside, outside, and folded-over-side.
I like to have both, and I wouldn't consider the cost an issue. There are times when the double-sided gives you the perfect colour for coordinating with the side you like best, and some projects really require double-sided.
The Basic Grey 12x12 sheets are mostly double sided but the 6" pads are single.

I agree with Sabrina. For example, the card attached, I just did yesterday, I bought the paper a long time ago because I loved the patterns, the back was just a solid color. Yesterday when I wanted to mat the sentiment, I did not have a blue color that matched in all my cardstock. Then I remembered it was solid on the back and since I had extra sheets of it, I was able to mat with paper that matched perfectly.
Granted I got this paper at a scrapbook store for free as I was cashing in a gift certificate. But I do get double sided paper if I'm desperate or I really LOVE it.
I'm a BIG fan of the 6x6 and 8x8 paper pads. Most of the hot lines I like put things out in them as well as in the 12inch double sided. So I usually just grab the smaller pads. I never have to fret over cutting them that way. Sometimes it's so hard to cut into a full beautiful sheet of double sided paper. The smaller pads are usually not double sided.
Good luck on your search, so much fun stuff out there I'm sure you will find just what you need.

You're lucky you don't live in Canada where it's never been less than .99 a sheet! Most are $1.25 and up!

The craziest thing is Best Creations. You have to pay $1.50 for a sheet and if the back half is any good, you can't even use it because the guilt of pissing away $1.50 on a regular print is too much to bear.

I know what you are talking about! I lived in Hawaii for 3 years, reg one sided paper was 89-99cents a piece. Double sided was $1.25-1.35 a piece. If the double sided paper was glittered it was $2.25 a sheet!
I was just hopping once I came back stateside prices would be better.

Thanks everyone on your opinions. Guess I will just have to suck up the price on doublesided paper, or just find 6x6 pads of paper. I do get coupons for hobby lobby, archivers, michels and my local scrap store. Archivers does has coupons for buy 6 12x12 paper and ge 3 free his week.
But think I will save my money for now, because I get to go to CHA at the end of the month. Just might be able to find some nice paper there!

I am with you I hate double sided paper you pay more for it and most of the time the the other side is ugly and a waste of money. But it's getting hard to find single sided
paper any more. at christmas time I tried to find single sided paper and couldn't find
any. all the cute ones where double sided so I didn't buy any.
Even at full price, one sheet of patterned paper goes a long way for me -- at least six cards, and usually more.
I also find I can get a lot of it on sale. Micheal's, Joann's and Hobby Lobby regularly put their paper on sale, and you can even get packs on the Stampin' Up Clearance Rack.
I love double-sided paper! It's so easy to coordinate and I love the heavy weight. So great for altered projects. I think you are looking at it from a card designers point of view. Those big beautiful patterns are perfect for the 12x12 layout which is what most of the papers are designed for. I agree that a smaller print is beautiful and easier to work with for cards. The 8x8 October Afternoon and 6x6 Basic Grey, Memory Box, Cosmo Cricket pads etc. are scaled down and I love them for cards. I think it's important for the card making crafters to keep purchasing these pads so that it makes sense financially for the manufacturer to keep producing them for us.
Well I do at times think its a waste in that I hate to use one side and "waste" the other side -but lately I've been working on projects where the double sided is great - boxes or mini albums.
is glitter paper. All their designs have glitter on one side
Thanks for answering:p

I agree with you. I hate to waste a side. The double sided sheets that are solid on one side are good to use for a folded card by making the inside the solid design. The others I use when both sides show like accordian folded mini albums or scrapbook layout in clear page protectors.
I too LOVE double-sided papers...They are soo easy to coordinate others with and the weight is wonderful. I'm always on the hunt for DS papers in PInks....
I have a love/hate relationship with double-sided paper ... I love one side and hate to cover up the other! Generally, though, I don't have an issue using it since the majority of paper I like is double-sided. The stuff that isn't, generally is cheap for a reason ...
I am appauled, also, at some of the cost of paper. So, it can be a challenge, to find
ways to use all of the paper, especially large patterns like you stated on one side.
I use two sided paper for creating cards for the same reasons listed above, but probably wouldn't spend the money on that large pattern on the other side, mainly for scrapbooks I believe. So, it's alright to be selective in your choices
