I'm in the planning stages of making cards to donate to the local humane society, who will in turn sell them on their website and collect the proceeds to benefit their programs (spay/neuter, etc.). By using SU! stamps on some of these cards, will I be going against the angel policy? I found this statment on the SU! website: "...nor may they be sold to other vendors for resale purposes...". However, I would not be selling to them but donating, and they are a not-for-profit agency. I'm not trying to twist this to work for me, but I would really love to be able to use the SU! stamps that I have on these cards. Oh, and I do have one of the SU! copywrite stamps for the back. ;)
Seems like the copyright would still be being violated. "Sell" or "Donate" doesn't really make a difference if the end result is that they will be offered for sale, and presumably the images posted, on a permanent website. I would suggest calling DS and ask for their compliance department or a supervisor. Better chance of getting the correct answer, kwim? lol...
It is clear that nobody is to sell cards made with SU! images on a website:
"Hand-stamped items cannot be sold in any permanent retail location (any location that conducts business in a store, consignment shop, kiosk, mall, or Internet site), nor may they be sold to other vendors for resale purposes, nor may they be sold at Stampin Up!demonstrator-sponsored events such as workshops, stamp camps, open houses, etc."

Great idea! Hope you can get resolution to the problem. This policy is exactly why I went with The Angel Company. I do not feel that my creation is limited by the stamp and the image??? What about McCalls or Simpllicity....if I make a dress am I not allowed to wear it in public or make one to sell??? I don't get that policy at all so I went with a company that says....don't reproduce our stamps but what you make using our stamps...hey go for it! I do still love many SU sets and own way too many according to DH but don't we all LOL
Oooh from what I remember of SU's angel policies is that you can't sell anything with their images on a website. I can't forget that policy, and that is why I am with The Angel Company. You may want to look on SU's website to read their policies on using their images.

i think i would call ds and check it out. after all you are donating them and not making any profit on them - and isn't the humane society a non- profit type of agency? and it sounds like it to me they are selling them to raise funds for the agency. it would be different if they were going to give you a kick-back on what they sell.

This is how I understand the policy to be up-held, as well. And, that the policy stands for all retail sites and/or internet sites, regardless of whether or not the organization is not-for-profit.

It doesn't matter what you "feel." It's the company's choice to try to keep its images as exclusive as possible. Most companies have copyright laws comparable to SU!'s, search the threads if you want to look them up. I was amazed the first time I read it - but that was a few years ago.
It is a good idea in any craft, if you want to sell your creations, to research policies. You were smart to go with TAC if you want to sell your handiwork.

I know SU! donates stuff when asked, maybe they could contribute some stamp sets to a humane society auction.
Or maybe rubber for the puppies to chew??? LOL

It's not like WE have any say in what any company's angel policy is. When I first started to stamp, I didn't even know what an angel policy was or that they existed! I just never even thought about it.
So I can see how someone could decide to start selling their stuff, and then get bopped by the angel policy.
It is up to the people that want to sell to find out about angel policies, so I'm glad it's talked about here, so people can compare and do what is right for them. There's no point in using SU! stuff if your main goal is to sell stuff, right?
So we can complain about the angel policies, but really all we end up doing is shrugging our shoulders and saying, Oh well, that's how they are.
