So many people are trying to decide about what backgrounds to get with the new promotion and I have read a bunch of them. I currently have no backgrounds. I am joining a marker club which is starting this month and I am going to take the first month and go ahead and get the background deal to bump up the order. So I am really leaning towards Dots & Daisies and Linen. I like the Linen texture and the Dots & Daisies is just so cute and I will match the Simply Said set that I want. Anyway, my delimma is the third backgrounds. Print Pattern seems to be a huge hit among many on the board and I have checked out a bunch of the samples in the gallery and agree it is very versatile. I am trying to decide between Word by Word and Print Pattern and let's throw in French Script as well since I have seen some really nice work with that as well. Your help is greatly appreciated and if you want to explain your choice please do. Or if you really hate one of my choices let me know. Maybe I just think it's useful but really isn't. I'd rather know sooner than later. Thanks alot in advance.
I would go with print pattern or french script. Word by word..I like, but I chopped mine up into indivual words and attached the rubber to jenga blocks.
One thing I tell my customers is to look at the sets they have (or want) and decide which background would go best with most of those sets.
I really like to use print pattern for masculine stuff and I love french script with flowers.
I guess it just depends on what you stamp the most and your personal taste

I think you'd be happier with Print Pattern or French Script. I personally do not like Word by Word, and I have heard a lot of people bought it and have never used it! I have Print Pattern and just ordered French Script if that helps at all
i have print pattern and love it, I have not used french script, but have the old script and use it pretty frequently..i don't think you can do wrong with either one of these two, they are both very different. I think the type of stamps that you plan to stamp with will make a difference as to which BG you get. Not much help I know!

print pattern is very versatile and i use it way more than french script (which i think i have only used a few times). However, you MUST consider Floral - check out the gallery samples.
I love, love, love Print Pattern! You can't go wrong with it. It is so versatile and can be used for both masculine and feminine cards, whimsical and more serious (vintage-y) cards. HTH!

I have about a dozen backgrounds. I would say you'd probably like Print Pattern the best. That said, my teenage daughter talked me into French Script and I use it *much* more than I thought I would. PP is extremely versatile--I've seen examples of it turned into argyle (with a ruler and a white gel pen), with white dots at each "junction," layered, etc.

I suggest Print Pattern. I have the old Harlequin background but still had to get PP. It is so versatile, more so than my word by word. I have French Script too, but don't pick it up that much anymore, but would never get rid of it.

I just received a RAK stamped with FLoral using burgandy ink on old olive CS. It is just beautiful. Floral is at the top of my list. Much more versatile than i thought it would be.

Another vote for Print Pattern. I got it in February and I use it all the time, I also have canvas and fine lace, but I LOVE print pattern, I just want to use it all the time!
I have Print Pattern and French Script and I use them both....but...I use French Script far more than the Print Pattern. I'm the minority here, I'd go for FS.
My opinion .... if you are going to get the Dots and Daisies and the Linen (I own the linen/barrowed the D&D), then I would suggest Print Pattern. I use it a lot...I also have French Script that I use a lot - but my reason for suggesing the Print Pattern is that because both D&D and the Linen BG stamps are very mellow and soft subtle stamps. You can make the Print Pattern very mellow and you can make it Jump right off the paper! I say go with the Print Pattern and you won't regret it!
I also own Word by Word. It was the first background stamp that I purchased, but I purchased it because I didn't have any word sets. It does come with a lot of words and for that it is a great price! but I haven't used it for months!
Good luck and have fun!
P.S... I just looked through my gallery and there are soo many things with Print pattern and abpit 2 with French Script (I do love it though) and of course, Print Pattern is on both with the French Script!
Thank you for asking this question, and for the GREAT answers. I THOUGHT I would get Crosshatch, but now I think I will do PP, Linen and FS. Ohhhh the decisions we must make!!!
Thanks for all the input on BGs that you love....I have LOTS of bg stamps but wanted to take advantage of the special and was trying to decide what ones to get that I don't already have...I noticed that the majority of you LOVE Print Pattern, a bg that I don't have. I thought this was the old Harlequin bg with a new name, so I turned my nose up at it....but since you all give it rave reviews I will definitely order it!
Linen bg will be another one I will order. Now the question is, what bg do I choose for my 1/2 price one? I already have canvas, floral, w by w, french script, weathered wood, fillegree, stripes, ivy, world map, and I forget what else (2 shoe boxes full , it's shameful, I know!).
What should I consider for stamp # 3?
I definetly say get Linen and Dots/Daisies background since they will be gone at the end of May. For your third get Print Pattern. I really find I love that stamp.
Hey Boss,
Harlequin and Print Pattern are very similar. The main difference is Harlequin does perfect diamonds, very rigid and orderly. The Print Pattern instead has imperfections on the diamonds pionts and tends to be softer looking due to the distressing. Hope this helps!
I have both Print Pattern and French Script and love them both. Currently I use Print Pattern more often, but I've made many, many cards with French Script. I think it works well for both fem. and masc. cards.

I'd personally go for By Definition - it's great layered with Print Pattern, as I did in this card. If you already have that one, then I'd say Crosshatch. That was one I hadn't really thought about before, but all the samples in the gallery changed my mind and I just put my order in...
BTW, Print Pattern is truly more versatile than the old Harlequin in my opinion. The weathered look of the newer one is so much nicer!
Thanks for the feedback on what to get! Now I need to look at samples in the gallery for the ones you all suggested and decide which is most unlike what I already have.
Wow! The response to my question has been fabulous. Looks like there were some others with the same question so I'm glad I asked it. Looks like I can't get away from Print Pattern. LOL So I am going to turn in my order for Dots & Daisies, Linen and Print Pattern. I'm going to pick up simply said as well since I am hostessing marker club this month I'll use my hostess rewards toward this and then I won't feel like I'm spending so dang much. Thanks again for all the wonderful feedback.
Another vote here for Print Pattern, and here's another reason why I think it'll be great for you - you said you're joining a marker club, so you'll be getting SU's fabulous markers. I think Print Pattern looks amazing when colored with different markers in a pattern to create a multi-colored background. So you'l already have another way to put those markers to good use!
