Well, I just thought I'd drive you even more crazy by letting you know that there has been another BIG announcement on the SU demo website about a new product that will be in the new catty! It's already generating tons of excitement on the Demo Only Forum, but I'm afraid to spill the news myself for fear of the wrath of those demos who prefer to keep this stuff under wraps for a few days, so that demos can have time to share it with their customers themselves. I'm sure it will show up on the board here real soon, so keep your pants on, and keep checking back for details! Or call your demo and ask them to give you the scoop! Check out the August 2005 issue of Creating Keepsakes, which hits newsstands in late June/early July to see a project done with the new product! All I can say, is that it's already at the top of my wishlist! I can't wait to hear what you guys think about it!
You're talking about the Watercolor Crayons? I'm not a demo, but my demo told me about it. Apparently SU told the demos to let us know about the spot in CK to generate excitement, right? So, now demos--generate some excitement! Although frankly I don't think I could get more excited about the new catty!!

Okay, well I guess the news has already been spilled, so I'll just come out with it again. It's a 48 color set of watercolor wonder crayons!

Stampin' Up!s Public Relations team is excited to announce a new product that will be featured in an upcoming publication. Check out the August 2005 issue of Creating Keepsakes, which hits newsstands in late June/early July, for a project created with Stampin Up!s new Watercolor Wonder Crayons (item # 104835, $59.95.) The deeply pigmented crayons in this set come in Stampin' Up!s exclusive colors. Simply use with water to create beautiful watercolored artwork. The Watercolor Wonder Crayons will be available in the 20052006 Idea Book & Catalog, available July 1. Use this placement as a tool to build excitement and anticipation among your customers for the great new products available from Stampin' Up!
They are pretty pricey, but I'll sell my soul if I have to just to get them!
Prismacolor pencils are not the same. Watercolor crayons or pencils are not a new product -- just new to SU. They are great. They look like regular colored pencils but you use them with water. You can dip the pencil in a bit of water for a deep thick color, dip a water brush or wet paintbrush on the tip for a more subtle color. You can color right on the paper and then use a wet paint brush to blend. They are a lot of fun and easy to use. Looks nicer than markers in my opinion. I'd hesitate to invest a lot of money in them because you can probably get a set of watercolor pencils or crayons cheaper by using a discount coupon at Michaels, etc.
However, if SU is making these to match its own colors, then I can see why someone who really wanted a perfect match would want to buy them. Personally, I'd rather invest in stamps, but everyone has different likes and dislikes, which is what makes the world so interesting.

Don't feel bad for spilling the beans. Someone (maybe you? dunno who...) already gave up the info last night on one of these boards (NOT the demo board).
EXCITING NEWS and so glad that they're matching their 48 colors!!
Thanks for posting this. I'm a demo and I've been wondering what these "crayons" were. They look and sound really cool! Now that I know a little more and will be able to pass the info along and generate some more excitement with my customers and downline.

If you haven't tried watercolor crayons you are going to LOVE them. I have the ones The Angel Company sells which is the LYRA brand. I just take my aqua painter and dab the tip of the crayon and then color in my image. Just leave the crayons in the tin and dab the tips with the aqua painter. It is so much fun.
They are such a fun tool to have.
I have the set of watercolor crayons from Dick Blick and have never liked them. I saw them demo'd somewhere and thought it was a cool technique. But have never had any luck duplicating it. Will be interested to see what people come up with for uses because right now they are collecting dust in my stamping room.

Does anyone know if these are acid free (as in scrapbook friendly)? I've used the Lyra ones and they are wonderful but no one has been able to tell me if these are scrapbook safe.
You'll love these!!!!! TAC has a couple of sets and they are one of my best sellers. You can do a lot of really cool techs with them. I think it'll be cool for you SU'ers to be able to match your card stocks and stuff.
Thanks for the dickblick.com link! I do have a set of those Caran d'Ache "Watersoluble artists' crayons", which I've used in the past for face painting! :o I shall explore the painting side, for sure!
And the set I have is 10 crayons for $16.95 Canadian, so approx $13.50US. So yes, these *are* pricey artist quality crayons.
I saw watercolor crayons in a stamping magazine a couple of years ago and just HAD to have them. I tried using them once. I'm excited about SU selling them, because all of you are so talented that I'm sure you will show me how to use them.
Someone posted this link that has 10 techniques for the watercolor crayons on another thread, and I thought I should share it here, too, just in case some of you missed it! It's awesome!
