Does anyone have any ideas for a Adoption card? My 6 year old nephew is being adopted on the 15th of Sept. He was a foster kid. Any ideas would be great. I have a Cricut, Cuttlebug and most of the toys.
what is the family like? could it be a welcome to farm (farming family) or the Team (sports family) or the school (fishing family) or something like that?
I think I'd go with something like...We've always loved you...now it's legal (or official?). Do the stamping as the above post...whatever he's into....sports,robots,dinosaurs,etc.
Some good friends of ours recently adopted and I took the liberty of uploading their announcement for a brief time so you could see it... I thought it was very neat.
If you like it you can 'print picture', as I won't have it up long. Good luck with finding just the right idea.

The adoption announcement is so wonderful and heartfelt! I, too, like the idea of rolling with things your newphew is intersted in. Maybe something like:
It's forever....Jeff (or whatever his name is) is now an official member of the "Smith Team". (whatever his new last name will be). He came into our life by chance and now he's our son by choice.
I don't know, I'm not sure that's what you want. I'm am so pleased for your nephew. We all want to belong! God bless you, Auntie, for celebrating his adoption!
Good ideas, keep them coming. I don't know how many males there are on the forums. Am I the only one? I probably have been called a mother before, but never an "Auntie". It made me chuckle.

Hee hee- she must not have looked at your user name! There are a few guys here, don't worry- you're not alone!
Are you the one adopting him or is he going to another family? I think either way, letting him know you're family no matter what is a good idea- maybe something with "family" on front- and "comes in all forms" or something similar.
How about just any kind of card that is appropriate for your nephew with a Happy Adoption Day sentiment or any sentiment you feel is appropriate for the occasion (e.g. Thankful, Thinking of You). Sounds like the child has been in your family for awhile, yet Adoption Day is a very special day and commemorated annually by many adoptive families.
One of my favorite designers is Kurtis Amundson and I am sorry that I can't remember his SCS name, but here is the link to his blog Kurtis Amundson
My sister and brother-in-law are doing the adopting. They also adopted my niece when she was 5 or 6. She is now 13. Also was a foster kid. They also have 3 dogs and 5 cats!! And no they don't live on a farm. hahaha All the input is great.
I put the word adoption into the gallery search and it came up with 15 pages of samples. Of course some are for dogs and cats, but maybe it will give you some ideas.
Oh, my gosh! I am sorry I referred to you as an "Auntie"! I should know by now what happens when I "assume". Uncle, good for you for making a card for your nephew!
My brother, who was 4 years younger, was often mistaken for my husband and our daughters' father as we would shop, go to the zoo, etc. It happened so often that instead of explaning we just started saying...honey, sweetheart, whatever. The girls even got in on the act as they got older. We had alot of fun with it!
But, I digress, again sorry for the assumption! I'm sure there's many men who post on here. I've even gotten my dh to make a couple of cards. I think he was pretty proud of himself!

No problem Loretia. I get the same thing with my Mom when we are out. People think I'm her husband and there is a 20 year difference! I love all the ideas and help that is being given. I'm glad I joined SCS.
