I am filling out my the form to order my kit! but I either already have the stamps listed or don't really care for the one's included...any ideas on good subsitutions?
All Year Cheer II (I already have I)
In Full Bloom
Sparkling Summer
Balmy Breezes (from the spring mini - they don't recommend substituting from the mini, but I love this set)
Itty Bitty Backgrounds
Whirly-Twirly wheel
I already have Perfect Party and I use it a lot for kid's birthday cards.
Itty Bitty Backgrounds (didn't have)
Tags and More (can't believe I don't already have this!)
Sparkling Summer in place of Perfect Party (already have)
Toy Box in place of Fresh Flowers (prefer In Full Bloom, which I already have, + have Blooming wheel too)
AYC III (I already have I and II, and lots of sentiments!)
Whirly Twirly Wheel instead of Blossoms and Bugs
I have a lot of floral stamps, so tried to get different things for the kit. I wish they'd offer a BG stamp in the kit!! Once you buy one you are hooked!
I kept the stamp pads the same, although I already have all 48 classic pads. For larger parties, I can use both, and if no larger parties come about, I can always use the pads as incentives.
I alway suggest to my recruits to look at all the inspiration sheets and find one they love and order that set and the listed color family and ink pads. That way when they get their kit they will have supplies that go together and ideas from the inspiration sheet to get them going! My upline didn't give me any such direction and I had a whole box of supplies but nothing to make a card!!! JMHO Good luck! ch
I filled out my paperwork and my upline will be mailing it for me this morning!
I kept:
All Year Cheer 1
Itty Bitty Backgrounds
Then I got:
In the Wild
In Full Bloom
Flaky Friends
and the Whirly Twirly Wheel
I'm taking a chance on the Flaky Friends since it's been in the catalog for awhile. It my be retired. But I didn't have a lot of holiday stamps and I really like the versatility of this set.
I also have an already excessive amound of stamps, so I'm getting:
Handmade with Love II
Paris in the Spring
Roughing It
Friend to Friend
and the Delicate Design wheel
I'm keeping the Fresh Flowers in there since the Inspiration sheets are included!
...not to hijack, but did anyone else fill out the forms printed from the demo website instead of the multi-part form?? They're exactly the same, right??
Hello ladies - I will be submitting my paperwork next week so thank you for posting this question. I I noticed someone said check out the inspiration sheets and pick colors or stamps to match. Where do I find all the inspiration sheets to check out?
I think someone had posted a list of the available sheets. Try searching in the forums.
The best advice I can give is to choose sets that fit your style. I LOVE terrific tulips and have demo'd several cards, etc with it. As I result, I've sold 6 in the past month. On the other hand, I have a few sets that I just sit and stare at. Then I have to CASE something from the talented ladies here because that set just wasn't my style.
I think you guys have made versatile choices. Good Luck!!
I can't wait!!! As many other posters had indicated, I already have several of the sets in the starter kit. Here is what I went with:
Let's Party
Little Layers
AYC III
Sketch an Event
I stuck with the Fresh Flowers set and coordinating wheel since I didn't have them already and there was a set of inspiration sheets for them in the starter kit.
Have any of you guys started thinking about your first workshop? I'm considering doing an "Anything but a card" workshop in my home to get things rolling. I'll experiment on some of my friends first before I start doing the gig with "real" customers .
When I signed I waited until May so I could see what was retiring (this was back when I was convinced I was going to be a hobby demo and never do workshops -- ha! Well, I made the mistake of choosing two sets which were about to retire -- I have used each of them only once.
And make sure you use up the full price value -- some of my sets were actually less expensive so I lost money there.
If you can't hold out until May 1, I would strongly suggest getting Itty Bitty Backgrounds or Shape-Ups (unless you already have them). For the most expensive sets, try to get a large greeting or shape set like Great Shapes -- it's new and highly unlikely to retire.
For the other sets, try to get sets that are versatile and that are fairly new to the catalog. You never know what's going to retire, but when I look at the samples on SCS for something like In Full Bloom that is newer and has hundreds of samples, I'm pretty confident it's not going to retire.
And welcome to SU! I hope you love it as much as I do!
I am telling myself I will just be a hobby demo, so if a set retires I won't be so worried. I am sure I'll do a workshop once a quarter to meet my $300 thoughand maybe one to get the ball rolling and take advantage of the 30% off. I am trying to keep the up coming holidays in mind when deciding (mother's/ father's day, fourth of july even) incase I do a workshop and for personal use. UGH I think I am making this harder than it needs to be! :?
Thanks for the welcomes and encouragement!
I am so excited, my hubby gave me the go ahead to be a demo and I am so excited! I am not sure how well I will do, but this is just a great deal. I am thinking of a party a quarter to help me maintain the minimum. We will see. I have read through all of these choices you ladies have made for your starter kit and have gotten great ideas. Do you think it is a good idea to order a Christmas set or is it too risky because of retirement?
You ladies are such a help!
I think we will be suprised but usually they do retire more Christmas ones than I would normally expect. Think last year it was like 19 Christmas ones retired :(
I'm signing on today, and am going to get Greetings Galore, Itty Bitty Backgrounds, Love without End, All the Best, Hot to Dot Wheel, and I can't remember the last one.
