Any northern Iowans?
I lived a stone's throw away from the University of Iowa for about 10 years. Now I'm living a few miles from the coast. Blank Park Zoo was our family's favorite zoo!
Ever read Truth and Beauty, a Friendship by Ann Patchett? She discusses aspect of her time in Iowa City while going to grad school. I'm the neighbor Nancy to which she refers!
Great place to grow up. I miss many things about Iowa - pleasant courteous service, wonderful friends and family and great schools among them!
I'll be in Des Moines next May or June for a nephew's wedding. Looking forward to visiting again!
All my best,
Nancy

I am from Southwest Iowa, the unwanted and forgotten stepchild of the state. We DO have internet service down here and all.

I'm from Muscatine (southeast side) and my husband is from Melvin (way northwest Iowa) Our daughter is a sophomore at Iowa State. We've lived in Houston for about 4 years now. We miss some things about Iowa but love Houston.
Or Mason City or Clear Lake might be good....but there are a lot of southern iowans out there....maybe Des Moines might be better. How about an all day Saturday thing? Has anyone been to one before??

LOL!! I'm from Co. Bluffs, people always used to call it the armpit of Iowa! I now live in Omaha (wow, big move) but did live in Des Moines for 6 years for college. Sorry, not NW though!
I live 2 hours North of Des Moines....but that would work for me....bet I could maybe get JenBerte (above poster) to come along with me too!!! We then would have an excuse to shop too!!!
Anyone know where we could meet in DSM? Hotel conference room, banquet room of a restaurant, church hall, etc??
I am familar with stampin' weekends....I actually host one at least once a year at my place....24-7 stampin from Friday night till Sunday afternoon!!! "Come when you can leave when you have to" type of theme. Very laid back, no schedule or real structure. If someone has a cool technique to show everyone, they do it when they are ready, etc. Each stamper has their own table, they bring their stampin stuff with them when they arrive, and are able and welcome to leave their stuff there all weekend. They stay as long as they want, leave when they want, come back when they can and pack it up again on Sunday.....(I hope that all made sense) I have invited friends and customers in the past---it's just a fun weekend spent stamping with friends! ;-)
Yep, another person from Iowa. I am from a small town called Luxemburg, it is near Dyersville....which is near Dubuque. I have lived in Phoenix, AZ for the past twenty years...but most of my family is in the Dubuque area. (Dubuque is in NE Iowa, near Illinois and Wisconsin.)

I didn't realize there were so many Iowans here! I knew about Onita, and that Doris used to live here. I'm from the Sioux City area, not too far from Onita!
Onita, have you gotten the Netherlands set yet? It's right up your alley! My DH said I could NOT buy it, but it's so dang cute!

My gallery needs to be updated, but you can see some of my old stuff here!
I just found this thread! Did we ever get anything planned? I live about 30 miles south of Iowa City and would love to get together with a group and stamp! Can we get something going? I am not a demo but am addicted to stamping and scrapbooking! How do we start planning?
I also just found this thread. I live in the Des Moines area but grew up in Marathon in NW Iowa. I lived in Chicago and Cleveland but there's no place like Iowa.
One of my fellow demonstrators mentioned Saturday that there's an Iowa stampers website. Not sure if it was SU or just stamping in general. Anyone know what it is?
