I'm never happy with the way my stamps look after i cut them out and
mount them. They stamp fine and I never have undercuts. They just look weird to me. I would appreciate any "hints" anyone would like to share.
TIA
Bev
I'm not very good at trimming my stamps and it bugs me sometimes when I can't get stuff cut as closely as I would like. I know the scissors used can make a huge difference, but I can't remember what the best ones are for cutting.
The trick is having the proper tools. The Kai scissors are great for trimming rubber. You can get them through SU, TAC and various online vendors. They seem a bit pricey but they are oh so worth it!
I use my CM scissors and I cut very close to my stamps and have never had a problem with the edges touching or nothing.

The best scissors to cut rubber with are the Kai scissors. They are a little expensive but they are SO worth it. I have lost a few pairs of them so I have bought them like 4 times. And then the other 3 showed up so I now have 4 pairs of them. But they are worth the money!
Thanks to all of you. I got the SU scissors the first month, I was in stamp club.
My pair is really stiff and kid of hard on my hands, but Ilove the way they cut the rubber. Can dsomeone tell me if they are supposed to be really stiff. I clean them with goo gone in between each set I cut. I have cut quite a bit of rubber. I was hoping they'd loosen up.

Send them back - you've got a bad pair. The Kai scissors I have, as well as the SU ones, cut smoothly and easily from the first cut. I've used them for several years and they cut just the same for ease, though they have dulled somewhat from use. Contact your demo and let her know the scissors are not performing up to standard. There is a screw on the SU ones that are not on the Kai scissors, you can try loosening up the screw a little bit and see if they are a bit looser and easier to cut with.

If you mess with the screw and then report the problem, chances are SU will not replace the scissors because they have tampered with. Still say the best thing to do is try to get a replacement pair from SU...
The absolute best tool to cut out stamps with would be something like a scroll saw. Mothers, hide your daughters if a man with a scroll saw comes through town!
Love the rubber cutting scissors! I can't believe I waiting so long to get them because it made a HUGE difference!
Unfortunately though, my son got a hold of them and cut his chin with them. He was sitting by me and I was mounting stamps and I switched to the smaller scissors to cut the labels. I was more worried that he'd get a hold of the smaller scissors because they seem so much sharper! So, (duh!) make sure the little ones don't get a hold of rubber cutting scissors...
The best way I've found to cut the rubber is to use straight cuts all around. Don't try and "curve" the cut. If I need to cut into a section, I then try and do it using straight cuts.
You probably all already know that tip, but wanted to share it anyway.

I do the straight cuts but then I go back and bevel my scissors AWAY from the image and cut off just the rubber part right up to the image, leaving the foam beneath. I especially do this to trim off any sharp edges. That way I never have an issue with those annoying shaddow lines because I take it all the way to the edge. They don't look super pretty on the bottom but they stamps perfectly every time.
Oh yea, I use a pair of craft scissors I got from the dollar store and they work so well that I can't justify buying the SU pair.
I don't mind cutting my rubber stamps. But then again my scissors don't get as sticky. Cause I am using Tim Holtz Scissors to cut with.
I found a Video that shows you how to cut Rubber stamps. http://www.creatingkeepsakes.com/vid...x.ihtml?idx=27
