I have seen great cards using some of the small background stamps or a single element stamped in such a way as to create a random background. How does one do that? Mine all seem to be kind of a pattern and then not a perfect pattern so I can't stand it!
I find that if I turn the stamp in different directions when I stamp, it makes a more "random" background. Also , stamp the pattern off of the edge of the card, so that only part of the image is stamped on to your card and part is on the scrap paper underneath. Does that make sense? HTH
Happy Stamping!

I turn the stamp each time and stamp off at least 2x (for light colors) 3x for darker colors. I also try to put the darkest 1st time spaced apart on the page. If your having a hard time turning the stamp try turning the paper. I also agree stamping off the edge or use a larger than needed sheet of paper and trimming it down to size gives a more random look. hope I was clear.
Funny but I have this same problem. Sometimes it's just because I tend to like things lined up, so randomness is "out of my comfort zone." I find myself trying to be perfectly random. Duh.
So those are good pieces of advice. And when you're done, don't look at it too critically. I've tried to learn to look at other things and think to myself, "They just threw it together and it looks great" so I try not to obsess.

For client who have a hard time being "random" I suggest start in lower left corner, then work in a large triangle. Be careful not to line the two lower images in a straight line. If the image is just a little"off" it makes it look better. Then start the next triangle in the middle of the last triangle, and keep going. Before you finish make sure you have stamped off the edge at least 3xs. It has something to do w/the rule of 3s. In time this will become second nature. hope this helps.
