Default Anyone live in Thailand?

I'm visiting Thailand in less than 2 weeks and was just wondering if anyone on here would know where I can buy some rubber stamps in Thailand (Bangkok or Korat)? It would be so cool if I could add to my rubber collection!

Thanks,
Christine

Hi,

I don't remeber seeing any stamps in Thailand, but when I was there I wasn't really looking. However, I do know it's a great place to get stamps made! I can't direct you to a specific shop, however there are little shops that do chops (chinese seal stamps) and other rubber stamps, all over the place. This part of the world is very big on "official" stamps on just about every document. So, if you have some original artwork, or some specific sentiments and words you'd like created, it's a good place to get it done cheap. You can take images to the shops that you want made into rubber stamps. The stamps will not be deeply etched beautiful rubber that you expect from some of these great companies, but they work just as well. Have a great time in Thailand!

Cheers,
Susan

I don't recall seeing anything like rubber stamps while I was there, either. I know in Hong Kong you can get a stone stamp carved with your name, but I don't recall if I saw that in Thailand or not. I didn't really seek out any stores, though - there was just too much to do! Plus, I don't know if you'll be in Bangkok or not, but the traffic there was as much of a deterrent to me as anything - getting anywhere in a car was the most unbelievable experience! I've truly never seen anything like it.

Enjoy your trip - it is a beautiful country with incredible people.

I know! The traffic is so bad! That's what taxis and cousins are for. I have lots of family there so basically I just tell them where I want to go, and they get me there somehow.

I'm going to look into getting some stamps made if I have time. Thanks for everyone's help!

I dont have answers about stamps but you can find great embellishments at the weekend market in Bangkok, if it is still open.

I am guessing there are probably vendors that make stamps to order in Thailand. I have purchased custom-made stamps in Cambodia fairly simply. You can take your images to them or they will probably have a book you can browse for additional images. Their "stock images" will be more Asian/Thai centric. I placed the order 1 day, then picked it up the next day. The Cambodian stamps were acrylic type, mounted on the old fashioned handle-style stamps. The quality isn't what we are used to from the US manufacturers, but still works well. It's also kind of fun having images you don't see regularly.

I am so jealous of your trip! We are planning a trip to Thailand & a return to Cambodia in the next 2 years. My kids were born in Cambodia & my son is 1/2 Thai, so that area has a very special place in our hearts. Have a great time!

I lived in Bangkok for 2 years and never saw any rubber stamps but then I wasn't a rubber stamper then. There are some amazing markets there that sell beautiful mulberry papers. The weekend market or Chatuchak market is great for that but it is huge - you would need to get a map of it or have someone that knows it show you around. The Chinese market also has gorgeous wrapping papers, ribbons and embellishments of all kinds. Have a great time!

You may want to ask Willosmama (you will find in the Unity Forum most of the time). Her best friend just moved to Thailand and may be able to help you.

I got the most amazing paper in Thailand, and lots of tiny paper twist (like SU! only in many colors) I found this in the open markets where you see hand made paper for sale.
Lots of ribbon too.

Haven't seen rubber stamps there, but I did find Signo gel pens for about $1 each at the Loft store in Siam Discovery Center (Bangkok). (I think they run about $3 each here in the States.) They're great for adding little details to stamped images, especially on colored paper- they produce fabulous, dense color.

Loft is just a fun store to check out - they have lots of modern/funky stuff for home/office/travel. It's one of my faves in Bangkok!
