Default Anyone want to split a package of metallic cardstock?

I would like to order the Bronze Ore & Lustre cardstock from this website. It would be $27.49 + whatever shipping they charge per person. On another post they said this was the same as Stampin Up's Brushed Copper & Brushed Silver paper - only much cheaper. We would each get 50 sheets of each color. Let me know if you are interested.

I just looked & the copper is only $25.99 so it would be a tad cheaper per person.

Might help if I add the website so you know what I'm talking about.

Check your shipping prices - I found another site that may be cheaper.

Ladies if you group buy over $100.00 at www.paper-papers.com you get free shipping to the one person who can then split and mail out. might save some postage this way. Plus they take paypal !!!

Thanks for the heads up Shawna. Looks like the other website doesn't have copper though. :( Are you still interested in spliting the copper? If so I wouldn't mind putting in the originial order since it is only like $1 more to add the silver I would like as well.

In another thread, Sandi posted about Yellow Rose Art Stamps:

I just bought 25 sheets of each of the 3 colors. I'm so happy to found this paper for so much cheaper than SU. I like using them, but the cost had previously limited me. at $.24 per sheet (paperzone was $.28 and SU is $.70!!), it's not quite as restrictive.
Here's a link to the thread:
Forums at Splitcoaststampers

Here's the link to the Curious Metallics page at Yellow Rose:

https://www.yellowroseartstamps.com/...?idCategory=38

You can get a ream of 250 sheets for $44, so if 5 people went in together each could get 50 sheets for $8.80. I haven't looked at their shipping prices although I read that it was based on weight. You'd also have to figure in cost of re-shipping to everyone who bought part of the ream.

Yellow Rose doesn't appear to carry the Curious Metallics Cryogenic White, which I understand SU repackages as Shimmery White (have heard this but haven't compared the two yet .) Paperzone carries it though.

I'm still waiting for spammie to get the assortment from Paper Zone so she can let us all know how the papers compare (did you get the brushed copper I sent to compare it with?) But I have read many different opinions on what matches SU's brushed silver. The most convincing I've heard recently is that galvanized matches best. But I've also heard: ionized, lustre, and anodized. Jenn Balcer also mentioned that she had bought the bronze ore and that it does NOT match SU's brushed copper. She says that it is much darker, still beautiful, but not a perfect match.

Also, remember to check the weight of the paper before you order. SU sells 92# cover stock (which at paper zone is 100 sheets/order). They (meaning paperzone) also sell 80# stock (at 250 sheets/order) which may be the same color, but muuuuch lighter weight.

Anyway... still waiting to place my order until I am convinced I'm ordering the right thing!!

Caroline

Default If it helps any.....

I have a local paper zone so you would only have to pay tax (WA is 8.8% though) and whatever shipping is - would it be eligible for media rate shipping?

RE: cardstock weight: The shimmery papers and cardstocks at Paper Zone are two different items. They sell a text weight paper (you don't want that one); and they sell a heavier cardstock (you DO want this one). With the gold and silver, you cannot tell the difference. However, I got rid of my packaging, so I don't know which color it is that you need for the perfect silver match.

I bought some paper from Paperzone, too. Galvanized is the exact match and the 92# is the exact weight of the SU paper. And Jenn is right, Bronze Ore is darker and does NOT match the brushed copper. But, the Bronze Ore is VERY pretty!

Default paper split

I'm excited about the lighter weight paper. I use it mainly as a layering tool so will have less bulk with the 80lb . I'm not an SU! demo so don't need to have the exact same paper.

Caroline - yes, I rec'd the gorgeous CS sample you sent me (it came yesterday but I was so busy I didn't get to open my mail until this afternoon!) Thank you so much!!

I already had samples of the SU brushed gold & silver paper and now have the copper sample from Caroline. I bought a sampler of the Curious Metallics paper from Paperzone which is supposed to arrive tomorrow. When it gets here I'll be able to compare the Curious Metallics papers with the ones sold by SU & will post the results here.

Unfortunately I didn't order a sampler of the Curious Iridescents. CI Cryogenic is supposed to be the same as SU shimmery white. Maybe somebody else out there will give us the definitive answer!

On another note...

If I can get enough people together to place a bulk order we can save 40% on Confetti Cream or Confetti White CS & envelopes!

If I place a big order, I can get sets of 50 8.5x11 sheets of CS AND 50 envelopes for $12 + whatever it costs for me to ship to you once I receive it.

I go through a bunch of this stuff and would like to buy in bulk. EMAIL ME using the link below if you are interested! Please don't PM - they're so hard to keep track of! Make sure you include your SCS username in the email. I can accept Paypal bank transfers & checks.

OK, my Curious Metallics finally arrived & I can now definitively report as follows:

SU's Brushed Metallic Gold paper is Curious Metallics' Gold Leaf
SU's Brushed Metallic Silver paper is Curious Metallics' Galvanized
SU's Copper is NOT Curious Metallics' Bronze Ore

Bronze Ore is gorgeous - a rich gold/browny bronze, but not the same. SU's Copper is much closer to Stardreams' Copper, but SU's Copper is lighter than the Stardreams Copper.

I can also report that Stardreams paper is wonderful. The colors are absolutely stunning & there's a wide variety of colors. The CS is VERY heavy - 105 lb. while SU Brushed Gold Silver is 92 lb. The Stardreams 81 lb. text would be very nice for layering but you couldn't use it for the card itself or for anything that requires a nice stiff background. I imagine the same goes for the Curious Metallics' 80 lb. text - good for layering, bad for cards.

I've heard that SU's Shimmery White is actually Curious Iridescents' Cryogenic. I didn't get the Curious Iridescents sampler so I don't know for sure, but I can tell you that it's NOT a Curious Metallics or Stardreams paper.

I'm still trying to put together a bulk purchase of Confetti cream & white CS & envelopes next, so let me know if you need any. It works out to 12 cents/sheet and 12 cents/envelope (about 40% off SU). Same paper.

Sorry about the delay in this. I emailed paperzone to see if they would match the free shipping on the other website. After they answer I will reply to everyone with the costs in case you are interested.
