I am trying to use my Aqua Painter. I have closed my stamp pads and squashed them down a bit to try to get some ink on the lid but I am getting nothing. How do I get the ink on the lid? Are my pads too dry? Why am I not getting any ink on the lids?
I hold the ink pad kind of like you would hold a hamburger with my thumbs on the lid. When I squeeze with my thumbs it picks up just enough ink. My ink pads are fairly new so that may be the problem for you.
For Stampin' Up! pads you need to push on the bottom side where the instructions are. If you push on the top where the pad is actually attached it is too stiff, so if you go from the other side it should be more flexible. Other brands of pads the cases are usually too stiff. This is one of the added features of the SU! pads.
Instead of squishing the pad to get the ink, I use a CD. (AOL obligingly sends these every 6 weeks or so!) You can get your ink onto the CD from a stamp pad, spot, marker, or water color crayon. Easy to store & easy to wash.
You could also use a disposable foam plate or the inside of a stamp case if you don't have CDs. If you have any Stampin' Spots, just rub those on any of these instead of using your big pad.
