When you stitch on cards or scrapbook pages, do you just sew across the cs or do you have to backstitch when you start and when you end? It seems like backstitching would not look nice but will the threads come out?
I hate when the threads start to come unraveled on a card or scrapbook page, so I do one or two back stitches. Your other option is to leave long enough threads so that you can tie them off in the back. A little anal retentive but I've done it
I do a back stitch but cover it with an embellishment if possible and if not possible just do as Linda said and tie them off in the back or glue them down.
You know, I never backstitch on cards (I don't like the way it looks), and so far, I've never had one unravel. I do put just a teeny dot of glue from a two-way glue pen on the ends of the threads. I don't know about scrapbooking, though. They get handled a lot more.
Oooo! Good question!!! My sewing machine is out and I have been thinking about this! I also had a woman tell me she sticks a bead and stiches it on with the last stitch... did that make sense? Thank you for asking this Q!!!
i have not ever back-stitched. however, on the cards i made the stitching was on just a part of it, and then that part was taped to the next piece. so I just added some tape to the back of the paper to secure the stitching. then i assembled my parts.
