my friend is having a baby girl..and for part of her shower gift i would like to make some birth announcements for her.. i guess i kind of want them postcard style and where just can fill in the info by hand like the name, weight, and what not..
any ways i need some ideas..
this is the stamp set i am thinking about using..(the baby giraffe mainly)
Check the gallery, search for "baby announcement", or maybe just "baby".
I am making some as well in a few months for my aunt and uncle who are expecting... nothing like getting baby cousin when you are almost 30, but hey, whatever works!
I am going to make them, leave a spot for a picture and leave off the info... when the baby comes, I'm going to have them Email me a photo, have it printed, slap it on, fill in the info, print it off, and away they go!

That would be so cute...I made some for my girlfriend, they were full card style with stamping on the front, then on the inside cover she put the picture, and space for name, weight etc. inside.

I guess I'm confused... what kinds of ideas are you looking for? Layouts? Colors? Wording?
I made 100 baby announcements when my son was born (colors bliss blue, going grey, whisper white). Personally, if you're going to make a lot of them I would recommend using a solid image stamp that you don't have to color in. I used the "I'm Here" set, as an example.
Are you going with a postcard approach to save postage? If you're planning on having any layers, you'll still have to put it in an envelope and pay regular postage.
My friend Karen (SCS'er Jusgottastamp) made some cute postcard style announcements... On the front was the image at the top with a sentiment below it. I believe this was stamped on vellum, then attached to cs with ribbon. On the back was a photo of the baby with his name/weight etc. on a piece of cs layered below it. They really turned out cute. I just checked her gallery though and she doesn't have it posted. I'll pm her and send her this way - maybe she can inspire you.
I one time saw a birth announcement that said our home has grown by two feet and they had the two little foot prints on there. I just thought that was so adorable!
Location: back in a gated community...the twins are mobile!!!!!!!

Good luck!
Good morning! No, I don't have my baby's announcement in my gallery. I've tried to remember to do that, but I kept forgetting. I'll find the one I kept for his baby book & take a picture of it to share. It's much like Sarah described. I printed his "stats" out on some cardstock with the computer.
It may be a little later today, but I'll get it done!
BTW, I'm VERY partial to giraffes...that little baby giraffe is too stinkin' cute!! ;)

Here's one that I made with a giraffe, Bundle of Coffee with Cream. Hope this gives you some inspiration, I'm sure whatever you come up with will be sweet.
