for all of the bloggers out there...have you/do use adsense on your blogs? It sounds like a good idea but I'm just not sure about giving info like my address, etc...I realize that is how they pay you, I'm just wondering if it really works, if its worth the effort and/or getting some feedback from actual users...
TIA!
I have had adsense on my blog for a LOOOOONNNNGGG time and I think that I have about $11.00 in the 'bank' - but they won't send out a cheque until you hit $100.00 - but it is free and if I were to get a cheque for $100.00 one day unexpectedly I would jump for glee!!
I placed adsense on my blog 2 years ago and made a small amount, but because I thought it made my blog look "junky" I took it off. I'm making alot more from my affiliates.
Stamper-C, it all depends on how much traffic you get on your site.
When I'm not being crafty I work for an advertising network. I help web publishers monetize their traffic all day long. With programs like AdSense you really need to have enough traffic coming to your site to get a lot of people to click on the ads. Think about how often you click on the ads here on SCS or other blogs you read compared to how many pages you actually view. Now scale that up to the level of your site's traffic and you'll have a better idea of how many clicks you can expect.
So, if you don't get much traffic, it might not be worth the effort it takes to set it up. Do you have any other statistics than the hit counter on your site?
I'm not interested in it to make any money b/c I'm sure there is not much to be made, I was more interested I guess, in seeing if it would increase traffic...not that that makes much sense now that I see it in writing! any ideas on how to increase traffic? (these are the things I think about when I'm supposed to be working! ;)
Links are the best way to increase traffic, and you're already doing some of that by putting your blog link in your signature. You can always add links to your stamping/scrapping friends in hopes that they'll return the gesture. You might also see if there are any stamping site rings (I can't think of any off the top of my head) to help get your site out there. Also check into registering with search engines so that they know your site is out there. That way the next time someone searches for something you've talked about, your blog might come up in the search results.
Most larger sites (those that are in it to make a profit off their ads or off sales of things they have on their site) buy advertising to drive traffic to their sites. Unfortunately, putting AdSense on your site won't increase your traffic at all.
One more thing... about the Stampin' Up! webring. I invite anyone to submit their site for membership... except for those whose only website is the Stampin' Up! provided one.
Why, you may ask?
The reason has nothing to do with being "anti demonstrator business web site" and everything having to do with the fact that Stampin' Up! does not allow their demonstrators to access the backend html code in order to install the webring code, which is necessary to run the webring.
Without the code installed, the ring doesn't work - and then there is no point being in the ring not to mention it may cause problems for other sites in the ring.
Until SU allows us access to the HTML, (highly unlikely - I'd be surprised, even with the new upgrades that Lisa S (?) I think said were mentioned at Leadership) Stampin' Up! business websites cannot be added to rings.

hmm funny you should mention that Michelle - because there is a SU Demo who does have her website liked to the Web Ring - I even saw it on her demo site - don't know how she did it though.

I pm'd you but will repeat for those who are curious... The site you are referring to that is a member of the webring actually only appears to *look* like a "real" SU website. It is, however, a "clone" site that was designed with real site elements but is hosted on the demo's own server... Therefore she is able to add the code. I'm not sure what compliance would think about this, but that is not my problem.
