My daughters boyfriend, who is in the US Army, is being deployed the first week in November. He will first go to Kuwait and then into Iraq.
I am collecting handmade cards to send to Chris and the other soldiers in his unit. I am looking for
1) Cards of thanks and encouragement to the soldiers (your personal message and signature is encouraged, but please do not seal the envelope!) and
2) Cards that are blank inside so the soldiers can write messages in them to mail back home to friends/family. If you have card fronts, I would be happy to take those as well; I will make them into full cards. Mailing envelopes are welcome, but not required.
My plan is to have a baggie with 5 misc. blank cards in it with a Thank You Soldier card attached to the package. I will attach a note to each bundle stating that these cards were handmade especially for them by caring and supporting folks back in the USA.
I would like to send boxes of these card bundles every other month and continue until the soldiers return home.
Thank you!

I just saw a fabulous card in the Holiday Cards magazine that papercrafts puts out. It would be ideal for what you are requesting. I'll have to see if I have what it calls for.
I would like to help you in you efforts for the men and women of the armed forces. My name is Mary ellen Cope I live in Wood River IL ( close to St louis MO )Could I mail the cards we make here to you for your mail out?? Just leave me a message and I willl get it somehow I'm new to SCS.

Yes, I am still doing this project! I plan to send packages of cards every 6-8 weeks until the soldiers return home.
Good Morning!
Boy, you know you are addicted when you check out SCS first thing in the AM! Will you be sending a package to the troops in February? Didn't know if you wanted to connect sometime in the near future so that I could give you the cards I made to date.
I also have a questions. Do you include Birthday, Anniversary, etc. or just all occasion cards in your mailings?

Have a great day!
I am including cards of all kinds, including holidays in the future by about 2 months to allow time for shipping from here to there and to allow the soldiers time to get them sent in a timely manner.
Do you care if I have my students make cards to send? I'd be happy to have them make some to send. PM me if you are interested. Thanks, Mary

I mailed you a pack of cards last week. I hope you like them, my students made them for me to send to you.
Many thanks for the great cards your kids made! They arrived at the end of the week. Sorry it has taken me a few days to say thanks! They will be going out at the end of this week. Tell your students thanks from me and the soldiers!!!
I have been looking for something like this since I saw that Hallmark movie at Christmas!! I checked a few others but they seemed to have stopped sending cards. I will get working a get you some. What theme are you sending next? I'll try to do ones you need. Thanks so much!!!!
It takes about 2 1/2 weeks for a box to get there and about the same time for the mail the soldiers send to get back here. I try to get them cards to send back 2 weeks or so before a known special event (hopefully that makes sense!), which means I need to be sending cards 6-7 weeks before the event. So, the next special event I will be sending cards for is Mothers Day. These will go out in about 4 weeks. I always include generic (blank) everyday or thinking of you/miss you cards, happy birthday and Thank you soldier cards with greetings/messages for the soldiers. Hope this helps and thanks for any help you can provide!!!
Hello,
Are you still doing this??? I am thinking of sending the +1 cards from 2 of the swaps I am currently hosting to the troops!!! One is for Children's birthdays so they can send them home to their children. The other is a masculine card swap. Most are blank inside, but I would write inside if you like.
Please let me know. If you are no longer doing this but know someone else who is can you please forward me the link???
Thanks,
Manda

Manda,
I am still doing this and welcome any cards to send. I plan to continue to send as long as we have troops over there, even after my daughter's boyfriend returns. Cards that are blank inside are preferred. Thank you for your help!
