Just recently I resubscribed when my daughter had a magazine drive at school...I have to say that I enjoyed my first issue! I come mainly here for ideas but it's nice to have something to thumb through...
I used to subscribe but didn't renew. It was hit and miss on things I liked and I prefer a magazine with more articles. Now, I thumb through it and if I like it I buy it. In fact, I only take Paper Crafts as it has a good mix of articles, projects, and pictures.
I love this magazine even more than Paper Crafts magazine. They have a wide variety of cards each month. I was surprised and impressed that they have 1 or 2 paper quilling projects each month.
I think Card Maker is one of my favorite craft magazines to flip through. The larger page layouts and well photographed projects make it easier to see how a project is completed. And the step-by-step instructions help me see how someone else creates - there's good lessons in that.
I used to use Michael's and JoAnn's coupons regularly on magazines, but they caught on to my/our doing that. Michael's coupons now exclude books and magazines. JoAnn's coupons can be used only on regular-priced merchandise, and they have begun putting magazines on sale at 10% off so the coupons don't work. Fortunately, we also have an A.C.Moore nearby and their coupons still can be used on books and magazines, at least for now.
I suspect magazines and books are already a low-profit item, so if we use coupons, their profit can approach zero. We can't buy everything at no profit or there won't be any stores!
I get CardMaker and love it. The cards they show tend to be more my 'style' and give me lots of inspiration. It's the only card mag I get, and at the current time I don't get any s/booking mags, either. So it's definitely food for my creative soul!

Oh nooooooooooooo! I just read the teeny, tiny print on my Michael's ad and you are right....I am bummed. On the other hand, my JoAnn's coupon does not have that exclusion - yea! :-D
