Hello, my name is Carrie Feliciano and I am new to Splitcoaststampers. I have been a member for almost a year now but just became a DEMONSTRATOR in September so I have never really asked for help before last week and I am not getting much response from the forums I have put my "POST" in. So I am going to try it again with another "TITLE". I live in Bremerton, Washington with my three children and wonderful husband who is is in the Navy. Well with all that is going on in the world right now, the carrier he is on is leaving soon for seven or more months and there are well over a thousand men and women on this boat. So I thought I would get a bunch of shoe boxes filled with all kinds of different cards together for my husband to pass around the boat. Where they are going overseas is unknown but what I do know is that they do not have a great selection of cards on the boat and will not be pulling into ports very often to get cards. I thought this was a great idea for them to have access to an array of many differernt cards they could send home to loved ones for the next seven or so months. So what I am asking of all you fine women out there is that if you have any extra swaps or card fronts you are willing to part with, I will catagorize them and put backs on them so I can get those out to all the sailors. Occasion cards are wonderful since they are going to be missing almost six holidays. Envolopes will be provided by myself, but if you have any extras lying around that you would like to donate, that wold be great too. Thanks so much for your time and you can mail them to Carrie Feliciano 24D Wencker Way Bremerton, WA 98312. Thanks again for your support, I thank you and so does the USS John C Stennis.

You might also want to post this same thing over in Everyday Chit Chat or Need a Lift forum. Need a Lift is where a lot of folks post requests for cards.

I need the bulk of them by the end of January, but if you get anymore during the next eight months, I could always use more. I will be sending care packages out twice a month so yo can send the card fronts, swaps or cards anytime. The kinds of cards or card fronts, old/discountinued swaps needed are: Valentines, Day, St Patty's, Mother's Day, Father's Day,Easter, 4th of July, Missing you, Love you, Just because, thinking of you, sympathy, birthday. You name it they could use it. I will be putting the backs on all the crad fronts and swaps if they are not backed, so please send what you have. Thanks for all the help. Carrie

I think this is a great idea. I was just thinking about what to do with my extra cards today. I am going to drop them in the mail to you tomorrow. I feel so much better doing this than hoarding my cards for myself.
Okay everyone, I am still in need of more cards for the servicemen and women. I have had a GREAT response, but I still need more. I had one person mail me 2 cards and then someone mailed me 400. But like I said in my first POST their are several thousand men and women on this boat. Come on gals I know most of you have tons of swaps and card fronts that you are hanging on to for "A RAINY DAY", well "IT"S POORING RAIN" here in Washington and the sailors need your help. Carrie

Hi Carrie, I got Valentines off to you on Sat. I thought I would do the most immediate holiday first. I plan on more, and hopefully before the end of Jan. Otherwise, asap afterwards...in your next shipment....
You can fit about 50 cards into the $8.10 priority mail box...
Sorry to hear that so many have a problem with that. mine are out....I feel the men representing our coutry deserve that and MORE!! More soon sweetie..!!;)
Thanks for the ball park figure inky cat!! Gives me an idea of how much and how many and best way to ship. I was wondering what I was gonna do. You are a life saver!!
People are asking what kind of cards I need, so here a list of cards that I am in desperate need of. Get Well, Sypmpathy, Good Luck, Congratulations, You make me happy, Your my favorite, Happiness, Anniversay, St Patty's, Easter, Mother's Day and Father's Day 4th of July. Most of the blank cards I have been getting I have been going through and just adding sentiments myself. I have catagorized them all for my husband so it is easier on him and the other sailors to look through. Remember there are women and men on this boat, so feminine and masculine cards are both need. Children cards would be great too, I know my husband would like to send the kids cards too and I am sure there are mom's on the boat that would wnat to send cards back to their little ones also. Thanks for everything and anything you can do to help. God Bless. Carrie

Carrie -
I'm glad I found this thread. I have been cleaning and organizing today and was trying to decide what to do with all these card fronts that I seem to think I just have to keep. I will be getting some off to you tomorrow.
Well I knew with the holiday's last week that I would get dumped with packages today and boy was I right. Thank so much to Sharon Stien (again)
Carie Ellison, BlueHeron, Diane Schneider, and Hadley. Your cards are much appreciated. Carrie

I am in Florida at the moment but as soon as I get back to NY I will get some out to you. My Daughter took her ASVABS today and will be joining the Navy herself soon! Im sure I will appreciate your efforts soon enough and will be making my own pleas. All the best to your Hubby and his shipmates.
WOW! The cards just keep coming. I am so glad you ladies are so willing to help me out with this project I have taken on for the USS John C Stennis. The men and women aboar the boat are going to be so pleased to know there are so many people out there who care about them. Thanks to Danielle Kennedy and Annette Boehnen for the cards they sent this week.
