My church is having a bazzar in a couple of weeks and I'd like to make some cello bags w/toppers. Besides candy, what other "stuff" would be good to fill these bags? I'm thinking stocking stuffers and what-nots around the $2.00 or so range.....Your thoughts? Thanks!!!

There are lots of things which you could use. I have made bags of Bath Salts which I colored and scented with essential oils (like lavender, geranium, eucalyptus,etc.), tea light or voltive candles, small sewing items (like a travel sewing kit - needle, safty pins, thread, buttons, etc.), first aid items (bandaids of assorted sizes, alcohol pads), for children a stamped puzzel broken apart, several crayons, hair clips or hair ribbons. Just anything you can imagin. I'd just slum the dollar store for ideas. You could also stamp some small enclosure note cards or gift tags and put several of those in a bag. I would go with packets of matching cards with envelopes. You could try to keep them simple, at about $.25 per card and put in 6. I think that would be about $2 all together.

I have done them with Golf T's and bright "shred" in the bag and stamped the topper with a stamp that says " Golf...The ideal game for people who don't get enough frustration during the week". They were a hit as Golf is so popular.
I also did them with Tea Bags with a poem about Friendship and Tea.
Choc. covered spoons were good with a coffee theme.
You could do some of the Teacher Survival Kits or the various other Survival Kits
I actually bought the small sewing kites in a plastic container that looks like a big Altoids tin from Walmart and put a cute piece of Cardstock on the front. I bought them for 99 cents and sold them for 3.00 once they were stamped CUTE!
I also did bags with the "gummy fish" in them that were stamped with cute sayings related to fish and fishing.
I love celephane bags with toppers and I have to say that when I was doing craft fairs, the cheaper items for men sold really well as it is always hard to find "stocking stuffers" for men.
I'm doing the same thing for a couple of upcoming bazaars. I'm doing the bath salts like GmaWash suggested, and lots of homemade goodies. I made homemade hard candy in Christmas colors, filled the bags, and added a tag and ribbon (knew I'd find a use for that yum yum tag!). They look adorable and very festive sitting together.
Because I'm doing some things for a humane society event, I'm going to fill bags with dog treats too. Don't know if this will work for what you're doing, though.
I am helping my son with a fund raiser for school. I have been making the little peppermint patties with the scalloped circle and picture and putting 4 in a clear envelope/bag and tying them with ribbon. They are selling for $2.00 apiece. This seems like a good fairly easy fund raiser item.

I am working on some kid cards with line art images, uncolored. Put them in a cello with crayons for kids to color.
I am also doing snowman soup.

This is Mocha Mix and has alwasy been a hit for me.
I put in enough for 2 cups for $2 bucks.

I needed to have more calcium in my diet, so I purchased a box of good powdered milk, a jar (8 oz) of instant coffee (decaf or regular) and Nestles Quick chocolate milk powder. This is so simple.
I take the jar of coffee and pour it into a mixing bowl. Then I use it as the measuring cup, because this is a proportional recipe and the jar is the guide. Then I add two jars of the chocolate milk powder (16 oz) and three jars of powdered milk (24 oz). Stir with a spoon. If you use a less expensive/coarser powdered milk, you can put all of it into a food processor or blender and mix it better. I have even used the Hazelnut instant coffee and it is great too.
To Use: Scoop out 1/4 of a cup for each mug (mix with 1 cup of hot water) you make.
I keep the Mocha Mix in a glass canister with the 1/4 cup scoop in it. It also makes a great Holiday Gift! I did purchase some really fancy chocolate milk mix once and it didn't taste as well Nestles. LOL This is a great no cook recipe for a gift! Put in a glass jar with a pretty mug lined with plastic wrap, add directions, a measuring spoon and a bow and you have a nice little gift.
