First post here. Hopefully someone has some advise for me. Due to a progressive health issue, I find that I am unable to stand and work like I once was. I just get too tired, too quickly. I dread the idea of lowering my work space as that would mean changing too many things in my space. My question is this, has anyone found a comfortable counter height chair that works for them? Currently I'm using a bench style stool but not only is it uncomfortable, I've come to realize that I don't like for my feet to dangle, lol. I remedied the latter with a small stool under my desk. I'll probably end up trying out stools in a store but wondered if anyone here might have some pearls of wisdom. Thank you in advance!
I can sympathize with you after many accidents involving broken arms and legs. I am short so nothing works. I prefer a combo of sitting, standing and hated the tall stool idea plus I wanted back support. During current breaking of bones I liked the tall stool but after that I went to a simple folding chair and just alternate depending on what I am doing.
My work station is desk high and after buying a top of the line chair with all of the bells and whistles, I decided that I didn't like arms at all on the chair, so I use the folding chair that goes with our card table set.
But DH uses a metal stool that the bottom pulls out to form a foot rest, kind of like the old fashion metal bar stools of the 50's or 60's. His work bench in the garage is counter high.
Try Sears. I got my hubby a craftman chair one yr on Black Friday. Hint-avoid the crowds, order online pick up at the store later in the day. It was $49 but I got it 50%. He loves it. Comfortable he has back and leg issues and it is adjustable in height. I us eit sometime when I am out in his space. I love it!
Since starting with this hobby years and years ago, I've learned to master justification. Kind of goes with the territory I guess. New chair, come to mama!
Advice?...Well, I also have a bar height scrap/stamp table and what I've come to understand is I need more than just a good chair...I need a really good mat to stand on because no chair feels good for more than 30 minutes. I alternate sitting and standing to relieve pressure from various parts of my body. And I take walking breaks-just around my house or yard which helps tremendously.
Your idea of the stool is perfect because dangling legs are uncomfortable. I have a bar height office chair and what I dislike most is the foot ring around it. Highly uncomfortable so I use a stool as well. Also it helps you maintain the right posture so your back isn't bothered.
