Default Clarifying something

I would like to clarify something about my thread here Forums at Splitcoaststampers

I have been called ignorant by some members here. One thing I would like to clarify before you call me things, I am certainly NOT ignorant.

When I joined this group/forum ( and I am fairly new) I was under the impression that it was solely a forum for rubber stamping and card making, was I wrong???
I was NOT aware that there were other art venues here as well and I already stated this in an earlier post (and even said I was sorry for not noticing).

I never said that I did not like the ATC card nor did I say I hated it. I did say I would have not used the symbol on my card and would like to see the good in it.

Well, the artist added something after somebody here asked her.

I also read a post, asking the members to please add an explanation to their cards when they upload them. I try to do that every time. There was no explanation on this one and yes, I had personal reasons being shocked, since I assumed that this group was a card making group, as in greeting cards.

I did see the movie but my point of view was different and yes all people are different and have different views of things. That is good since the world would be a boring place if we would all think alike.

I should have sent the lady/ creator of the ATC card a pm and asked her personally to tell me what moved her to make this ATC card..... I did not since I was not sure who I was dealing with , after all it is the internet and one has to be careful. I also did NOT know she had the nudes in her gallery and I really could care less about that since I grew up in Europe, it is much more open over there than her in the USA any time.
I think her card/art does have a place but I was not expecting it here of all places, still assuming it was a greeting card making group.

Well, what did this teach me .... don't assume a forum is strictly card making when it says so and
- you are called names by some members who think they can.

I am bilingual and English is not my mother language, so excuse me if I can not state my point as good as others might can, but I think I hit the point pretty good.

You do not have to reply to this, I just wanted to make a point that one has to walk in the other persons shoes to know where that person is coming from before calling them things they are not.

Thanks for reading my post.

Sorry- nobody should be calling you names. and for the record, it's "stamping" site, not restricted to cards- there are scrap layouts, both traditional and digital, altered art, atc's, (as you have found) books, journals, frames, recipe cards, tins, cd cases, calendars, etc....you make it by hand, we allow most all of it in the gallery! We are looking to have a wide variety of inspiration to offer to all. not just cards.
but, back to the names, it's not allowed, encouraged, and I am thinking not tolerated as well.
sorry if it appeared anything other than that.

I agree with chispirit.
Why do so many people want to make a mountain out of a mole hill?
Why do we have to look at nudity and swaticks (sp?? sorry).
I like good clean stamping.

((Ri)) Well, I will reply, and I'm sorry you were made to feel the need to post. I did not have any problems with your original post. OK, well, I may have wondered why you didn't just pm the artist, but that's it...nothing negative. I feel sure that one post in response to yours was what set the tone for the rest of the thread. NOT you. You merely asked a question, which is certainly your right. I think your thread just took on a life of its own, and almost became an extension of the other one about this same artist.

If I am one who made you feel I thought you were ignorant, I'm so sorry. I guess I don't really have a negative view of the word "ignorant." The word simply means that one hasn't been exposed to a particular subject...there's nothing bad about that.

As a last thought...I would just like to share that SCS has seen MANY threads become little tempests that explode and then just die out on their own. I urge you to try not to worry that somehow this thread needs to forever taint your experience here. It's just a little blip in the overall bigger picture here...

Yes, and it was my mistake for for assuming that it was strictly cards and I realize that.

I'm sorry anyone called you names, it is definetly NOT the norm here. Most users are wonderful and caring people.

With such a sensitive subject it's not surprising that this has turned into such a "hot topic" on the message boards. I hope we can strive to see both sides of this story, and not be too harsh on one another.

I'm so sorry that you were called names! There is no reason for anyone to resort to name calling to get there point across. I have read a few threads started lately regarding this person's gallery and it is so silly at how many people have called this person awful names and left crude/rude comments in her gallery. SCS used to be a really fun place where you could come just to chill out with other people that shared your hobby. Lately I have been wondering why I log on anymore. As far as others calling your ignorant just let it roll off your back. There are MANY more NICE SCS members than the immature ones you came across in your post. Have a wonderful evening and HAPPY STAMPING ;)

I'm still in Easter mode, I hope your dog is fine!! OOpps..hope I haven't said something that I shouldn't have! SORRY, was just trying to make Chispirit not feel bad about the comments being left on the threads (there are about 3 or 4 about the pictures/cards that are being posted)! Too much PMS is all. Like someone above me said, don't let them get to you! We've all made mistakes in one way or other when we first started out here on SCS until someone kind helps us out. An yes, 99% of the time this is a very fun place to hang-out on!!

Hugs to you. I'm so sorry folks called you names. People get ugly sometimes. I don't like the card either really... but she has the right to create it. I think we should all be careful of people's history before we send them a card. Perhaps in the future, you should simply send the card back to her and privately explain why it may not be the best card for you. You are certainly entitled to be offended by it, especially given your history.

Oh... I thought I read she was sent the card. I went back and read again.
Regardless... name calling is uncalled for and I'm sorry she was made to feel bad or called names. Mature women don't have to stoop to that.
If a person posts a card in a gallery or sends it or whatever... that card becoems open for scrutiny! And this person certainly had/has the right to publicly say what they like or don't like about any given card.

Thanks for expressing your confusion!

I'm sorry you have felt attacked, chispirit :( I hope you know that the vast majority did not want to attack you, but you know there's always one in a crowd, and that one makes a lot of noise and makes it seem like the whole pack is against you.
Your English is just great, so no need to worry about that! I had no idea it wasn't your mother language. In fact, I think you are more articulate than many of the others posting in these threads!
Peace,

I strongly agree with this!!

And I never would have guessed English is not your native language - well done indeed!

And my guess for chispirit was CHI(huahua) spirit

I hope you will still find things you love here on SCS ~ there really is something for everyone and there are good people here.
