I just received my Close to Cocoa Craft stamp pad and it is almost exactly the same color as my Chocolate Chip. It's not at all the "milk chocolate" sort of color I was expecting from the color chart. I also can't imagine why they would make 2 browns so close to eachother in the same color family Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know if they'll let me exchange it? My demo is going to ask....just thought someone might know.
my chocolate chip pad is really really dark, and close to cocoa is lighter- talk to your demo and she/he will call demo support if there is a problem. Never had this one come up though. DS is wonderful though and will work to resolve the problem. That's why i Love SU!
My demo has both colors in CLASSIC and she said they are different so I don't know if it's the CRAFT ink or if there was a mistake. Both are DARK Brown. Anyone else have both colors in CRAFT ink??
I am waiting on a Chocolate Chip craft pad due to be delivered on next Wednesday. I already have Close to Cocoa craft and can compare then, if you're willing to wait.
HTH,

My chocolate chip and close to cocoa classic pads are switched (I think). The Close to cocoa marker, craft pad, card stock, pastel all match the Chocolate Chip classic pad and vice versa. It's really weird.
It might be a mistake but if they are not both craft pads that might be the problem and they make a brown that is water proof. just check with your demo and she should be able to help you.
I've had two close to cocoas and they both appeared to be the same as dark, dark brown like chocolate chip. After the second one, I figured that they were meant to be very dark and haven't given it a second though til now. Disappointed at the time though!
I have both the cocoa and cho. chip craft pads and there is a difference in the two colors. But I think the difference is less great than what you see with the classic inks in these two colors.
Also, the craft pads, as a whole, seem to be more "rich" in color than the classic pads. (IMO) Hope this helps.
Lynn
JWheeler,
In your original post, are you looking at a Close to Cocoa Craft versus a Chocolate Chip Classic?
I think you can't compare apples to oranges (ha ha), or Craft to Classic, or paper to marker.
I am still hoping someone will post, that has both Craft pads!
Maybe if you actually stamped your new Craft pad and embossed it, then compared circles?? And if you have a marker, draw a line there, and try the basic brown pad too!
Hopefully someone with all five can give us their opinion.

No, I'm comparing both in CRAFT ink. They are virtually the same. One may have a slight tint more red in it but it's hard to see. I also ordered the Basic Brown (Classic/waterproof). It is much lighter than the Close to Cocoa which is not the way they are depicted in the catalog. I also just noticed that the Close to Cocoa color swatches in the Summer Mini and regular catalogs are QUITE different! I
I'm truly stumped. The circles I stamped here are in classic ink: Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip and Basic Brown. The Close to Cocoa looks like milk chocolate and the Chocolate Chip looks like dark chocolate, and the Basic Brown looks like a mix of the two!
(It wouldn't even really matter if the Basic Brown looked like one of the others, since its uniqueness is that it's waterproof.)
Are you going to call DS in the morning and ask them about it? Maybe they'll want you to send them back and have a look! I would expect the Craft pads to have the same differences as the classic!!!

This probably won't be much consolation, but I just did a comparison between my craft inks (I got EE craft pads in a set a couple of months ago and have just been opening them as I need one) - the Choc chip and Close to Cocoa are nearly the exact same. The Close to Cocoa might be drying just a tiny bit lighter, but both pretty much are the same color as the Chocolate Chip classic pad. I guess I should have checked these sooner.
My demo has both colors in Classic and I have both in Craft...they are definatley different. I don't expect them to be exact because they are different inks but you wouldn't expect to have THAT much variance. She's calling DS today to see what they say. If that's the way it is I'll just exchange it for a different color. There's still too many colors that I want to have two that close in color!
