Default Cocktail Napkin Technique

Was just looking to see if there were any threads on the Cocktail Napkin technique and haven't found any yet. Anyone out there enjoying this technique? I'm finding it very addictive!

So many gorgeous napkins, so little time! LOL!

You might need to update your flash player - that usually does the trick

Thanks! Not sure how. One of these days I'll get to figure it out. Thanks for posting! I did read your tutorial. I just use adhesive (like Stamping Up adhesive sheets) or the Xyron. It's just easier and you don't need to iron. There are many ways to do this technique though and everyone has a favorite way! I emboss over the top of the napkin and it turns out so pretty!

I was searching for that and updated it before I read your helpful post! Oh, and watching your video too. I'll have to make some video's shortly. There are several different ways to do this technique! Great job on the video, btw!

I tried that link but it says my device doesn't support it. I should be able to see it on my computer though. I'm on the tablet...android.

Thanks! I have some more posted on the FB page, in my link. I absolutely love the napkin techniques! I posted video's as well, but you have to scroll for them. Not sure how to make it a sticky on FB as of yet. Will have to figure that out....or just create my own video. I'm teaching it this next week too.

One of the napkin methods was a technique challenge back in 2008. HERE's a link to the gallery, too...

The card I made for the challenge is HERE

I still have a container full of these supplies from years ago; really economical way to make your own cards, designer paper and envelopes. Mine used the freezer paper; but am open to trying the zyron, also I should check my supplies to see if the napkins fade over time.

I usually reduce the napkin to 1 ply and modpodge it. The more crinkles, the better :-)

Default Decorator Cigar Box

Just made this decorator cigar box out of the napkin technique. You can view the two pictures I have posted here.

Made it for hubby for Fathers Day and gave it to him tonight. He liked this better than the clothes he received! Go figure?!

Default Awesome Samples!

Thank you all for posting samples of the napkin card technique. I had forgotten that you can use freezer paper. That's a lot more affordable than the Xyron Refills! I had actually thought about the freezer paper on the way home from shopping today, and looked back here to see what was posted and your posts confirmed my thoughts. Will have to try it tonight. I haven't done this technique in years. Love it!

I have used the 'napkin technique' for years usually doing the faux silk look. But I really love the version that you used Karen. Never tried to emboss over the top. Usually I cut a piece of cardstock to size ..cover it with glue stick.. crumple the plied serviette..uncrumple and leaving a few wrinkles still in press onto the glue. I have a couple of samples in my gallery but this is my most favourite card using it. TLC359 Christmas serviettes. by Mrs Noofy - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers . I am going to give your method a try..thanks for the inspiration.

Looks interesting, but can't see video and iPad won't take Flash Player. I'm a little confused by pictures, when you say newsprint I can't see any 'print' it looks like plain paper to me? I'll take a better look on laptop later.

Hi, newsprint for crafting is plain (unprinted) paper, you can buy it in pads at any art store or the big box craft stores. Pretty economical. Hope this helps.

This technique is exactly why I have a drawer full of packages of napkins, mostly unopened! I've only used freezer paper and sometimes the napkin didn't stick very well. Definitely going to try the plastic wrap.

Thanks Paula. Have now watched the video. Looks interesting. Have never seen newsprint like that in the UK, I'm sure there's something else I can use!

It's called newsprint because it's the type of paper that newspapers are typically printed on. Guess it may be a rare item today with so many newspapers ceasing actual printing and going electronic only.
