As for the colored staples... I bought some plain (silver) ones at Staples and used my Sharpies to color them and they work great!!! I use them on candy bags mostly...
What a neat idea about coloring the staples! I saw some at our Walmart, but you got a big box of only ONE color, and that was $1.29! Now, I can just buy some regular staples and color each piece a different color! TOO COOL!! Thanks for the tip.

Making Memories makes a mini stapler and 3 sets of different coloured staples... great colours!!! I think it would be a pain to colour them personally, and the MM ones are nice and bright. They're pretty cheap here, so they must be cheaper in the U.S. You can find them in any scrap store i'm sure!

A couple of weeks ago I went to a crop at Archivers and they demo'd a new product by EK Success called the fastenator. It's like a big stapler that uses really wide staples (1/4" or 1/2"?). You can get them in different colors but also with different things embossed on them. It was kind of neat but I think it was around $25. Not quite that neat.
I've seen regular staples used in lieu of brads and eyelets. A row of them makes a neat embellishment effect. Great idea to color them. Does the color stay or does it rub off?

I do the same thing. I have a large set of sharpies with all sorts of cool colors in it...I think I bought it at Sams Club.

so many colors, too few staples! Rats! I ran out of staples before I ran out of markers! WOW! they sure do look cool! I even did 1 one-inch piece with my Krylon gold leaf pen! Now I need to find some projects to use these on! I think I'll color up another box to take to school in September for my electric stapler. The kids will get a kick out of this!

I have also painted a section of staples before I put them in the stapler...no problem with the color wearing/rubbing off. I'll have to try the sharpies, i have the large set form BJ's too, never thought of using the markers for coloring them!!!! thanks
I have the fastenator-very very VERY cool...LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!! it has a deep throat, 12" i believe, with a ruler on it so you can place the bars anywhere on the paper and line them up if you so desire. So far i have only found gold, silver & copper colored bars for it, but i haven't looked online for them either....
CTMH had just come out with some. 5 colors, 5000 staples for 4.95. And a swivel head stapler that turns 360 degrees with 8 angles to get into just about any spot.
