Default Coloring clear microbeads

Everyone gives such great ideas I thought I would share a successful experiment I did. Yesterday a friend and I were making shaker cards using clear microbeads. She wanted some pink ones but I only had the clear. I put some in a baggie and added a few drops from a pretty in pink reinker. We played with it until we got it the right shade and evenly distributed. We put the beads in the bottom of a square glass pan and put them in the oven at 250 to dry. We got the rest of the cards ready and the beads were dry and beautifully pink by the time we were ready for them. It matched our pretty in pink paper perfectly! If I could get my scanner to work I could download the card, it came out really cute. Hope this helps someone out there.

Karen

P.S. cool the beads before putting them on your window sheet unless you are going for a warped look.

What a great idea! Thanks for sharing! We can color the beads to our hearts content now!! Out of curiosity, did they come out pink and yet still a bit transparent, like could you still use them on a beaded pen and see through the tint to the stamping underneath?! Just curious!

Thanks for adding this because I'm one of those losers that would have gone through all of that work only to melt my window sheet.

Thanks so much for posting this! I have a lot of clear beads and was planning to *one day* try coloring them - if I could ever peel my eyes away from this site

I thought I'd have to use rubbing alcohol or something with the reinkers - it's great to hear that it's so easy!

You can also use Staz On Reinker....you don't have to bake...just let dry on a paper towel. We did this at one of my upline meetings. She did the beads the night before so we didn't wait for them to dry.

The beads are still transparent, just tinted.

If you wanted to stick them down to the cardstock, what do you use? Crystal Effects, Sticky Tape or ???

I always use sticky tape, but if I wanted them to stick to a shape that didn't have straight sides I would probably use CE.

oohhh, I wonder if it would work with white craft re-inker?? then you could have snow, or whatnot. I don't have a white re-inker currently. anyone wanna try it and let us know if it works?

what a neat idea! TFS

I must admit it was not the first thing I tried to dry them. You should see the baggie we mixed them in after we tried to use the heat gun to dry them.
