Default Conditioning Clear Stamps?

I've read that you have to remove gunk off the cheaper clear stamps you get. I read about a white eraser. does it have to be white? Will other colors turn the stamp colors? do I mount it to a clear block while doing this? WHEN I finally gather some $ to order papertrey stamps, do I need to do this? It sounds like they are ready to use as is and everyone loves how they stamp.

Thanks!

I used a regular pink eraser, I just made sure it was clean (it wasn't new LOL). It worked fine and I just did a little twist of the pencil to get it to work, my stamp was on my block so I didn't want to go back and forth and risk pulling it off. I would think you could leave them on the cd case and it would work just as well.

I've also skipped the eraser thing and just inked the stamp up and stamped it on scrap a few times and that worked just as well.

I've always just inked them up and stamped!

I use Versafine ink and I never condition new clear stamps. Even the $1 Studio G stamps work fine right out the package. Just take them out of the sheet in the package, place on a acrylic block, ink up with Versafine and stamp away. I have also used Fabrico (Versacraft) and Colorbox inks. All of these will work too but the Versafine is designed to transfer detailed stamps better so I tend to use it for all my stamping since I am so pleased with the results I get.
