I really want the paper piercing template, paper piercer and needle, but don't necessarily need the rest of the stuff. I already have a hammer, eyelet setter and 2 sizes of anywhere hole punches. I've never really wished I had tweezers for anything and I don't do much with wire. I've heard you all convince others of why particular items are so great. I'm hoping you can either give me reasons this set is really a must-have...OR...just tell me that I should go buy a paper piercing tool, needle and template on their own.
Oh, and the case, although great, isn't a particular selling point to me because I would take the stuff out and store it in my stamp room on pegboard and in drawers.
Monica-
I am in the same boat as you! I asked my demo to suggest they sell the template seperately! I already have the other stuff. I just know I'll end up purchasing the whole darn thing...
I have to vote (as a customer, not a demo) that perhaps (just perhaps) you might be better spending those precious stamping dollars on a needle and the other things that you want. I have a tool kit from a craft store; it has everything but the template, but my DH made me one from a sheet of stenciling acetate from said craft store, thus saving me 30 precious stamping dollars!
Just my 2 cents....
The only thing I can say to you about making this purchase is that if you are a Demo it won't hurt to have the extra setter or extra set of all these tools for a workshop. However, if you are not a demo person, then why not wait until you can get it for your birthday. As the other ladies said the kit is $40 precious dollars. The only reason that can justify a purchase of this magnitude is a "must have/need/cannot live without it" kind of a thing.
I absolutely love my crafters tool kit. I do not know what I did before I had it. I had quite a bit of the eyelet tools before but I just squeezed those into my bag with the other "great cannot do without tools". Can you tell I am a big fan of the kit? :P

I have one of the crafter's tool kits (as well as several other eyelet tools/mats/etc.) I REALLY like the portability of the kit (it is nice and compact, and since it zips closed, I know I'm not going to lose any of the needles/punches/etc. I wish Stampin' Up! would offer better quality punches, but that's a different complaint... :-) The template works well for paper piercing and for lining up eyelets nice and straight, but I wish it was larger (in my opinion, the mat, template, and foam piece should all be as long as the pouch is, and just as wide.)
What does this boil down to? I love mine, but don't think it is worth quite what I paid for it. It should be priced about $10 lower, IMO. I hope this helps!
1. I love the paper piercer and template w/ sponge protector. It works so well to make holes for decoration or threading stuff into. I just used it on 25 presents (from fun-filled) to put linen thread bows on the presents. It saved me so much time.
2. the needles. These I use w/ the linen thread to "sew" in the holes from the paper piercer.
3. the hammer and eyelet tools. I had the smaller eyelet tool and my own hammer. But these are great because they stay neatly in one little holder that also has a pocket. So I can carry my little hammer along w the tools AND the eyelets together to the doc office and finish my projects. No joke, I've done this before!
4. the paper piercing guide also guides the eyelet tools and sits on top of the little mat.
5. tweezers. These were great when I was doing the clear christmas ornaments and my acetate moved and I needed to adjust how it was sitting. These were "PERFECT" for the job.
6. I love that it comes in its own little case. I keep all of my stamping stuff in a rolling case since I use it at my Mom's every weekend and take it to parties also. It is a really solid case w/ a nice canvas cover that is washable.
I wasn't sure if I'd ever get it because of the expense. But my MIL gave me money for my birthday, and I immediately ordered this. I think it was one of the best investments I've made w/ birthday money! I don't think you could go wrong w/ it, but again, I'm a big fan!!!
You really "need" the tool kit. I absolutely love the template, but another big seller for me is the case. I love having everything stored in one place, and I also like storing my rubber cutting scissors in the pouch on the front. Go for it. You won't be disappointed.
Aubrey you are so funny!!! I was going to make the same list down to the MIL giving me the bday money!! LOL
I have to admit though, at first I really wanted a smaller hole punch but yesterday I found I could just poke the paper piercer in all the way and wahlah!!!! Perfect hole for the minin deco fasteners!!!
I am a real penny pincher don'e buy unless I can't live without it kinda gal but this is something that I am glad I bought as I really really love it! I juse it often and the case is large enough to put anextra pair of pliers into so that I also have needle nose pliers for when I use the heat gun for either embossing small pieces or polyshrink!!!
Keri--I've often thought (reading your posts) that we have a lot in common, down to when you had your baby, your mom checked SCS for you. Our kids are similar ages and everything.
Funny thing, after I got done reading the list, I forgot to mention how nice the paper piercer is for brads (decofasteners). I use it all the time. The piercer and the mat work so well to line up the brads.
I also use the pliers w/ the wire. Forgot to mention that too. I love this kit!
I got mine with hostess benefits and am glad I didn't pay $ for it. I love the case and the paper piercing stuff, but I substituted my own tools and gave away most of the ones that came in the kit. If you don't already have the tools the ones in the kit are okay, but I don't think it's worth what they're charging for it.
